I wanted to like this place so much. Spent $150 on reservations for a very important Valentines day dinner and received the absolute worst service I've ever experienced in a dining establishment. Clearly management did not have a good action plan to handle the event and it was painfully obvious the entire time. For the entire jazz club, there seemed to be 2, maybe 3 waiters that were scrambling to take care of the entire club. The seating was atrocious, as we were basically sharing tables and bumping elbows with the couples on either side of us....so romantic. Luckily the couple on our left were very pleasant and we had a good night just chatting with them and sharing stories while we waited forever for our food. Onto that part, we waited roughly ~20 minutes to receive water for our table ($4 charge per bottle i might add). We had to ask for bread 4 times and that alone took another 15-20 minutes. The second time we asked we were told "let me see if I have anymore bread left in the back". This was before we had even gotten our appetizer, which by the way took almost an hour from the time we sat down to get. The lobster bisque was admittedly very tasty and I would order again. The Caesar salad that came out looked like someone just grabbed a handful of lettuce and just tossed it on a plate and added maybe a drop of dressing. No flavor at all just tasted lettuce. Had to get up and find someone to ask for dressing because getting anyone's attention for service last night was mission impossible. Now onto the entrée of the night, which came out after the band had already finished playing, packed up, and the lights were turned on and generic music was played softly in the background. We ordered the Filet ($10 upcharge) and had inquired about how well they can do a rare steak, they said it will be cold in the middle. Okay fair, so we order a medium rare. Once the steak came out (it was almost 1030pm at this point, band was gone lights were on), we cut into the steak and immediately notice there wasn't a spot of pink in the middle of the steak. We were very unhappy with the food that came out but at that point we had already been there for 2 hours waiting to eat and were not willing to wait for it to be made correctly. We asked for at least the upcharge for the filet to be comped, if not the entire meal. We were told no, and was offered a voucher to a free show of our choosing, A $30-40 voucher for a $300 disaster is unacceptable, and that was assuming that I would ever come back after this experience. The band was AMAZING, the atmosphere was FANTASTIC. I loved everything about this place and want to come back so bad, but my experience last night showed that they were more interested in collecting everyone's money and making a profit rather than providing an excellent dining experience and a show for a group of people that were all there for one very important common reason, Valentines day. That was my first experience with this place and unfortunately, will likely be my last. Huge disappointment and they were not willing to do anything to...
Read moreMy wife and I arrived for our 915PM outdoor reservation, checking in with the hostess inside. She sat us outside, providing no menus. It was very loud, as they were piping music out there from their live jazz inside, amplifying it in the process.
The outside seating was clean and very nice. Clean and freshly folded linen table cloths. Also, it's a block from the beach in the hip area.
We sat around for 10 mins and then I went back to the hostess, asking if we could have a menu while waiting for the server. She apologized and said she told our server we were there. Still no menu. Went back to the table and about 10 minutes later, server arrived, apologized and asked if we'd like water. He then went to look for menus and came back with them, saying he'd go look for a cocktail and wine menu and coke back. My wife asked if they had savignon Blanc and ordered a glass (wise move). By the time he came back with the cocktail menu and then again to take my order, she had already finished her glass of wine.
The menu had a wine selection that goes literally, as follows -
Red: Cavernet Savignon Merlot Pinot Noir
White: Chardonnay Pinot Grigio Savignon Blanc
It's like we were handed the menu from Alabama in My Cousin Vinny that had 3 items - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner haha
It's all good. We are at the beach and we set expectations very low. We laughed. The wine tasted so horribly. It reminded us of the complimentary wine we got on the casino floor at Trump Plaza (low end casino), before they shutdown. The problem is they charged $36 per bottle for it. This was probably $4, pharmacy wine. That's weak.
We asked our server to please turn the music down which had gotten louder to the point of being physically painful (have ringing in my ears today). He said, you're absolutely right! He then went inside and we didn't see him again for a while. The staff fumbled around, trying to lower the volume for about 20 mins. One guy came outside with an iPad and couldn't figure out how to do it at first. It was entertaining, albeit while we were being deafened.
The trout appetizer was very good! Smoked and served with capers and a tasty horseradish creme.
My dover sole and my wife's seabass were good, albeit they had an insane amount of butter in them, and the use of capers on her seabass seemed unnecessary, like they order them in bulk and use them on multiple dishes.
If the dishes were priced properly, I would've rated this a 3* experience. We paid $125, just for our 2 entrees with tax and tip. This was Not a luxury meal and should not have been priced as such. We were out-the-door for over $200 for 2 entrees, an app, a bottle of mystery "Savignon Blanc" and a glass or mystery white wine.
The restaurant should fix these issues, because there is...
Read moreWent looking for food and music last Friday night and figured we’d give Heidelberg’s a try... What a mistake and disappointment. Long story short, I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy let alone family and friends, and would never go back. If you want the long story, I’ve included that too...
From the wait time to even be greeted by a pretentious waiter and receive menus, the less than decent music, to the inedible burger, and lastly the argumentative chef, it was overall an extremely poor experience... Picking a safe bet, I ordered the Brie Burger, which was served with two thick chunks of unmelted Brie on top that fell right off the burger, an almost frozen slice of tomato and a few pickles. The burger was as plain as it could possibly come, greasy, and unseasoned. It was like a ball of ground beef was taken directly from its container, placed into a pan, squashed into a lump of a “burger” and thrown on a bun. I took one bite and was done. My bf tried it as well and was equally shocked at how a staple menu item could be so wrong. When the waiter came to ask how everything was, I started to say “well, not so great...” and he quickly dismissed me with a wave of his hand and skirted off. He did not return until we finally had to stop him to ask for the bill and for the burger to removed at which point he sent the chef out to our table. The chef abruptly asked what the problem was and as I was explaining that the burger was flavorless and overall just not good, he interrupted multiple times in defensiveness. His biggest defense was that he is “the only chef in Brevard to grind his own meat” (well I’m sorry sir, but that doesn’t make your burgers any better). Again as I tried to explain the lack of flavor and overall poor quality, he admitted he uses no seasoning so that people can “taste the meat”. Tired of hearing him defend himself and wanting to end the conversation, I said “Well, that’s the problem. I appreciate you coming to the table”. Clearly, based on other reviews, this isn’t the first time anyone had complained to him about his boring food but you would think by his attitude it was. He was unapologetic and reluctant to offer any solution, replacement or other suggestions. My bf’s meal wasn’t any better, didn’t come as described, and he ate it purely out of hunger but not because it was any good. We’re convinced this place is a scam for the elderly, charging overpriced and underwhelming dishes, that are presented prettily to make up for the lack of taste by fancily folded napkins and...
