Stoner's Pizza Joint, 801 Dixon Boulevard Cocoa, FL 32922 Cocoa, FL 3.5 Stars (Chain Restaurant Review)
My random name generator threw me for a loop when the name, “Stoner's Pizza Joint” popped up as my next dining destination. I quickly looked them up on the internet and as Gomer Pyle would say, “Surprise, surprise, surprise,” they are headquartered in Colorado. As I pulled into the parking lot a few snickering thoughts slipped across my consciousness, “I should open up a Drunkard's Pizza Joint, the name is just as bland” and “Hey, I bet they have a 3-day guarantee on your pizza or it's free!” “Sign says they open at 11:24 every morning” and finally, “I'm not a stoner, will I be welcomed?”
Our counter customer service representative today was Abby, shockingly, she did not appear to be stoned at the moment. Truth be told, she was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, honest, and charming. I asked affable Abby for one order of their Stromboli stuffed with pepperoni, onions, and extra cheese, one Cheese Pizza, and an order of their Really Big Breadsticks
Grabbing an empty seat at a nearby table, I took the opportunity to survey my environs. As you can see by the pictures, the place was cheerily decorated sans black light posters and was clean as a whistle (some things remaining from the pandemic are good). Acquiring my order I retreated back to my perch, snapped the obligatory food pics, and commenced to chow down.
First up was the Stromboli. I found it surprisingly delightful with an extremely flavorful dough cooked to perfection and tasty, fresh ingredients oozing out of the inside. While I am sure the ingredients were not farm fresh, they were far from bottom-of-the-barrel food service and as mentioned previously, were delectable on the palate.
When it comes to the Really Big Breadsticks, I was expecting length, not girth (insert your own joke here). They were thicker than two fingers, savorily seasoned, and came with a processed butter/garlic sauce and their own pizza sauce. The Breadsticks, like everything else from the oven, were done to a nice, fluffy, warm, and tasty...what more could one ask for in a breadstick?
The Big Boy says, “Hey, for a chain, it's pretty darn good. Take it...
Read moreI love taco pizza, and the ones they make at the Byrd Plaza Cocoa store remind me of my hometown pizza place. But the reason for my review today is because, last night, I ordered a medium taco pizza. I received it, but I forgot they don't put the toppings on it because the lettuce wilts because of the heat. I opened the box, and alas, no toppings, and it looked like a cheese pizza. I called the store back and told them about what I thought was the cheese pizza, and they said they would make me another and bring it to me. They said they would call the driver as well to find out what had happen. About 2 minutes later, the driver called me back and informed me that, they had a new person that got the pizza ready, but forgot to send the container with the toppings, and he was on his way back to bring them to me. He had it back at my house in great time, and I got to enjoy my favorite pizza. Every time I have ordered from the Byrd Plaza location, I have gotten friendly, upbeat, knowledgeable service. From the person who answers the phone, to the delivery person, it's wonderful to use their service. I expect mistakes to happen because they are human beings and not perfect, although I think pretty darn close with how well they treat their customers. I will continue to order from them just for last night as well as all the other times they have provided their great service. Now, if the higher ups would consider it, the only difference between my hometown pizza, and yours, is crushed taco flavored doritos on top. Just...
Read moreI placed an order online with Stoner’s Pizza, and I accidentally selected pickup when I wanted delivery. I didn’t realize until after I submitted the order. I called them to see if they could change it to delivery. The lady and the gentlemen I spoke with were super kind and helpful. I guess they couldn’t make the update after it already came through online, so they voided the order so I could resubmit it online as delivery. However, when I went to place the order online again I learned they no longer deliver to my address (understandable, it’s a little far from them).
Disappointed, but craving pizza, I called back and told them the situation. I didn’t know if it would mess anything up on their end if I resubmitted online so I called to place the order over the phone just in case. I spoke with the same gentleman again, and was blown away by his service! He said, “I’ll tell you what. If you make the drive up here I will give you your order for free.” I was shocked! This wasn’t my intention at all, especially because I was the one messing everything up . 😅 It was so incredibly kind of him!
If you haven’t had Stoner’s Pizza, I highly recommend. I would’ve recommended them even before this, but this definitely pushed me to write a review. Not only is the food DELICIOUS (try the Pep-n-Rollie) but the service is amazing! The delivery people have always been really friendly, and this situation tonight shows that the kindness runs...
