Bob Evans — Restaurant in Cold Spring

Since I frequent this location on a regular basis I thought it was a perfect place to have lunch this afternoon with my family to celebrate my sons 7th birthday. I was wrong. Perhaps it is because I typically order large carry out orders as opposed to dining in but my experience today was quite different than ever before. I would like to preface this story by letting you know the restaurant was at least half empty. When we walked into the restaurant we stood at the podium waiting to be seated for 6 minutes (we were the only people in the lobby). Finally an elderly gentleman and two elderly women came in and a girl behind the counter came out to seat them. One of the women told her we were there first so she escorted us to a table. The table was dirty and the menus had some pages stuck together with what I assume to be food. Even after all of this we were still going to order our lunch but we never even so much as reveived a greeting or a glass of water. We waited another 10 minutes watching the people who allowed us to be seated first have their drink and food order taken, recceive their drinks, and another couple who were seated after them receive their drink orders before we became frustrated and left. When we left there were four employees (1 wearing a manager/supervisor uniform) chatting amongst themselves and only stopped to stare at me like a deer on headlights when I returned the menus and informed them we were leaving due to lack of service. Upon arrival there were 2 tables with 2 people seated at each. A group of 5 were seated before us and one after us. There was 2 waitresses on duty during our visit. The moment we sat down we were asked for our drink order. She proceeded to take another table's food order. After putting their order in, she brought our drinks. Approx 15-20+ min passed by before she came back for our food order. We were served approx 30 min later, as she brought one dish at a time. My sausage patties were burnt, hash browns were not cooked thoroughly, home fries burnt. She came back to check on us 20+ min later and as one of us was trying to tell her the drink refills we needed, she began walking away. In the middle of her repeating what we needed she stopped at another table to help them. She brought our refills approx 10+ min later and forgot one of them. Her reasoning, she must not have heard it all. If she would have finished helping us before helping another table she might have heard it all. Another 10+ min goes by, she walks by us and asks, "No one brought your refill yet? I asked another girl to bring it to you.", and she walked away. Finally received the refill at the end of our meal. Not sure how long this young lady has been in the waitressing industry but I think she needs more training in...

I advise you do not order carry out or through grub hub with this establishment. We have ordered for carry out ourselves and then through grub hub. The first few times I thought it was due to them being busy. Next two times they blamed grub hub for “not collecting all the bags”. This time when we ordered through grub hub ( let me remind you I always order biscuits and gravy) I never ever get the gravy. I called in and spoke with Lauren the last time it happened and they personally delivered my gravy and fresh biscuits. This time when I ordered grub hub they didn’t deliver the gravy, so I called “again” and spoke with lauren when then in hearing range on the phone asked Heather if she bagged my order she responded No! But then got on the phone an precedes to tell me that grub hub ( a place you have partnered with ) has been stealing items from bags to include drinks, turkey bacon etc. So after hearing all of her story, and her rudeness because I am clearly upset, I informed her we would no longer dine with her because I have ordered carry out where I have personally checked bags there an had to ask politely for all of my order!
