Penn Station East Coast Subs — Restaurant in Cold Spring

Cashier was new didn’t know the menu and was not very helpful for this being our first time visit. Several options to choose from. We ordered an Italian 8” and tuna salad 8”, kids cheese bread. The fries were delicious and crispy, the Italian was delicious with adequate amounts of meat, the tuna salad sandwich was very runny and seemed more fluidic than tuna but overall had a great flavor. If you do not specify that you want the whole sandwich cold they will heat the bread and the cheese then stick the tuna salad on top, I hadn’t known that until sitting down and reading their entire menu. Which I feel the guy that rang us up for the order should have made that aware to the customer. We sat in a table by the window, and the table top was very very sticky, which I took a wet wipe to and scrubbed vigorously to achieve a semi non sticky service which I then covered in napkins. The cook whom brought out our food to the table was a very pleasant man and friendly! I would just let the owner know a good scrub of the tables and possibly having someone on shift sweep the floor which was very littered would help. Overall a nice place to order a sandwich...

UPDATE: I returned to this location recently and witnessed an employee drop the french fry scoop onto the floor, simply rinse it off under running water for 10 seconds, and return it to the fryer to serve more fries. This is disgusting and something management should take care of before someone becomes sick.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Penn Station East Coast Subs serves both hot and cold subs to order in 6inch, 8inch, 10inch, or 12inch. I had the 12 inch Philly Cheese Steak with onions, mushrooms, bannah peppers and spicy brown mustard. The sandwich was served hot and was very flavorful. Their fresh cut fries are some of the best fries I have had. You can often see staff cutting whole potatoes to be dropped in the fryer when ordered by the customer. No fries are every sitting out under a heat lamp. They offer fountain sodas, tea, and freshly squeezed lemonade. My only complaint is that the cleanliness of the restaurant could improve. Tables aren't cleaned very often which leaves seating choices limited and the bathrooms could be cleaned a little...

I wanted to make a point to publicly address my visit to this cold spring location. As we all know, the world is in a different place right now and has forced us to change daily routines. With that being said, I went here yesterday and ordered the family deal. When I got home our food had gotten switched with another car. I called and talked to Brian and i can honestly say, he provided the best customer service i had ever experienced. Not only did he credit our meal he also upsized for no additional cost. We called today and placed our new order and i went to pick up. Brian personally brought my food out and was so apologetic. You dont find many people like him and I want to thank him for everything.
