Waitress Demands 20% Tip
I patronized Bangkok Alley on Saturday 22nd August with my sister and boyfriend. My boyfriend and I were visiting my sister in Memphis on vacation.
Our meal and drinks totaled to $122. We paid cash and tipped $7. As we prepared to leave the restaurant, Jenny (our waitress) returned to show us the $130 we gave her and the bill, INSISTING we had not tipped her enough. After the initial shock of being told this, an additional $10 was given towards the tip. After receiving a total of $17 in tip, the waitress proceeded to ask for more and wanted a total of $22 tip because she stated she had to also give tips to the kitchen so that will be twenty percent in tips. My sister went on to tell her that tipping isn’t fixed and you can’t demand a certain amount of tip.
After having a nice evening catching up over a meal, we all felt that the demand for a certain amount of tip ruined our night. We were embarrassed and also bullied to pay a tip that the staff wanted, with no consideration to what we could afford or catered to give.
We complained to the restaurant manager but was given the callous statement that this never occurred before and it won’t again. The main note is that patrons should not be demanded especially when there are no laws stipulating that a tip must be a specific amount. The waitress coming back to the table, while other diners were there and telling us not once but twice that we need to tip her more was embarrassing and outright greedy.
There may be diners who visit the restaurant in the future and may cater only a certain amount of money for tips only to have their evening ruined unless a serious change is made. In all my life of dining in various restaurants never have this embarrassment and greed been experienced.
I am a big fan of Thai food but this experience totally ruined our evening and any chance of visiting or recommending this restaurant. In the end if money is most important to a restaurant rather than providing good food or service then a restaurant will never get it right.
Consider a thought for patrons who can only afford a certain amount of tip. Don’t embarrass them for giving only a certain amount. You lost three customers to this and my sister being a resident of Memphis said she wants to ensure that her acquaintances know about her horrible experience at that restaurant. Please stop ruining peoples evening by greed, you lose...

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I received during my visit to Bangkok Alley in Collierville. While I have usually found the service to be exemplary, my experience on this occasion was notably subpar.
I was seated in the bar area, where it was only myself and another table with four patrons. I waited approximately 20 minutes for the bartender to come over and take my order. After inquiring with the hostess about whether anyone was attending to my table, the bartender finally acknowledged me and took my order.
I ordered a bowl of Tom Kha soup and drunken noodles. Because of where I was seated, I could see into the kitchen and noticed that the bartender placed my soup in the microwave to reheat it, as it had been sitting for too long before being served. After another 20 minutes of waiting, when he finally decided to bring me the soup, it was still cold. I informed him that I had ordered a bowl, not a cup. He then returned the soup to the kitchen and proceeded to attend to drink orders without following up on my request.
Ultimately, I had to get up and ask another staff member to bring me a bowl of soup, as the bartender did not return to my table. This experience led me to feel that I was being treated with a lack of respect and attention, which appeared to be an act of prejudice, as he seemed unwilling to provide me with the same level of service as the other patrons.
I am deeply concerned about whether this reflects the standards upheld by Bangkok Alley. If such service practices are permitted, I will be compelled to reconsider my patronage and will share my experience in a review on Google, as well as inform my friends and family to reconsider their support of your business.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt...
Read moreFood was so good and I was so hungry I didn't take a pic of my vegetable fried rice with no egg.
Also ordered delivery of green curry soup with no spice added because doctors orders I just had a special procedure done.
After ordering online for delivery I realized I had verified delivery address prior to making payment. I called the location immediately and the kind gentleman saw the order and advised I had ordered for pick up and canceled for me.
I was able to select delivery reorder with 1million special instructions to the food since we're vegan and the site doesn't allow modification for no meat.
They were very accommodating and kind over the phone. I forgot to put no egg for the rice and when I called back to make sure they received the 2nd order same man answered and said I told them no egg too because you said no meat.
Me: Perfect! Thank you so much.
I highly recommend this location to eat. Super delicious food.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the spring rolls were overcooked, not edible and when we opened the box the sauce was open and completely wasted inside.
If they can master those crispy sping rolls they are golden.
Also ordered California suchi rolls for my son and he liked them.
My mom had a noodle soup she enjoyed.
It was a perfect first meal after my...
