Most disappointing experience I have had in a really long time. Especially at this place as the food most of the time is really good. However, today (June 1, 2023 at approximately 6:15pm) my wife and I had one of the worst experiences. Here is how our experience went:
I (husband) order a half chicken dinner. The chicken comes out and the first thing I notice, it still has feathers in the wing and the breast itself. Now, we are pretty easy going people and we understand that people make mistakes. Therefore, I had removed the wing with the feathers on it and the other feather from the breast. Then as I went to eat, I have noticed that it was so dry and hard that it appeared that it was left over from lunch time. It was so tough that you couldn't even break the chicken to eat it (I showed the waiter by trying to poke it with fingers that I could not break the skin). The waiter shrugged it off and did not offer to replace it (I guess I was supposed to sharpen my teeth and eat that tough chicken and not complain about that.) My wife on the other hand ordered brisket plate. The meat was great. However, the side that she had (the pig skins, aka sweet potatoes that were fried with batter and brown sugar). Well instead of tasting like great side, it was a taste of like eating soap.
At the end, the waiter brought a check reflecting both of the plates at full charge. I was not going to argue not fuss about it and just gave my card to be charged full amount. However, when the waiter came back, he did take the chicken plate cost off (credit is due where it needs to be given as this was the right thing to do as the whole chicken was still in the basket in front of him). No apology, nor any other comments. Therefore, I had left the place as came, hungry and ready to eat. Unfortunately, this establishment did not want to feed nor serve us apparently. Therefore, If your hungry and thirsty (as our drinks were not replenished) I would suggest going to a place where they have better...
Read moreVisited Friday night after opening. New restaurant is beautiful. Service is ok, not great, not awful. Still working out the kinks I guess. Ordered commissary classics: bbq nachos, half slab, and bbq shrimp. Nachos came out quick and were delicious. Meals on the other hand took quite a while to get (shrimp doesn’t take that long to cook). To be honest it tasted like the food sat in the window for a bit of time before it was brought to our table.
The reason for the one star is the awful ribs I was served. For $20, this was the tiniest half slab I have ever seen. 6 bones, but 3 of them put together was the equivalent of a regular bone. The worst part? Majority of the slab was cartalidge. I spent more time picking and pulling and dissecting that slab that I did enjoying it. Meat was dry (again leading me to think it had sat in the window) which is unusual compared to the g’town location; however the sides were great.
The part that left the worst taste in my mouth was the lack of caring from the management. I showed my server that half of my slab was uneatable so She took it to the manager, then came back and asked if I wanted a slab to go. I politely declined. To which she said ok, and brought the check with no discount applied for the lack-of food on my $20 plate. Now, to be fair, I didn’t raise the issue to get money off...but, something, anything, would’ve been greatly appreciated.
To top it all off when she brought my card back I was told “...hopefully we can make it right next time.” Sorry, ma’am, your chance to make it right was this time.
I understand there are kinks to a new restaurant (even one with a rich history such as this one) but customer service shouldn’t be sacrificed because of it. We won’t be rushing back—if we come back at all—to either location. There are too many other options in the BBQ capital...

We go to the Germantown location pretty frequently and have always loved it. This location is NOTHING like that location. We had a party of 3. My fiance tried to order brisket, just meat, no sides or anything and was told they could only order meat only to go. So we changed our order to what we usually get, The Boss Hog Special and we split the meats. We asked for 2 brisket, ribs, and a link. We we're then told we couldn't get 2 brisket. We've been ordering the same thing every couple of months for the past two years...the waitress gets the manager (we did not ask for a manager and she didn't say anything, just walked off then the manager showed up) and they say they will do it this once and the other location shouldn't be doing it either. The manager was very off putting and rude. She came to the table and said "Do you have a problem?" And just stared my fiance down. There is a choice between 4 meats (5 of you want to pay the upcharge for brisket, which we always do.) so it shouldn't be a choice of meats if you don't get to have a choice of more than one of each. The food came out quickly but wasn't the same food by a long shot. The potato salad was bland, the brisket was burnt, the ribs were chewy, and the manager and waitress kept walking by and giving us "looks" and the waitress even rolled her eyes when my fiance was showing me his burnt food. It was uncomfortable. Bus staff just walked around everywhere aimlessly. We (using the term loosly because "we" means only one of us) finally got a refill while waiting for the check. The waitress and manager had come by our table several times throughout the meal though. Overall it was a very poor experience. If you're wanting to try this location because the original is great, don't. Stick with...
