I was once there years ago and really liked it. The building and insides are great. It's tucked away in an unlikely location. Back then the bartender was nice. I went last night and had a really nasty bartender. She was very short with me. I asked for one beer, "We're out." was her curt reply. I asked what was available for Happy Hour. She said everything on tap was $5 all the time. So I ordered the hard cider, got it and left $6. She alerted me that I left the wrong amount. I said, "I thought you said everything on tap was $5." She angrily replied as if I were a moron, "Cider is not a beer. Beers are $5. Ciders are $6." I left another dollar. BTW, there is no law that says you have to tip and this bartender did not deserve one. Ever heard of customer service? I hate to take down the whole tavern because of one lousy bartender, but so long as she is working there, I won't...
Read moreI have been here just a few times even though I live about a mile away. Went to meet some friends from work. The clientele consists of mostly locals and some people from the CIty. Pretty mellow ambiance.
The bartenders are not exactly nice. They ask what you want and have no interest in hearing anything else you have to say. Not exactly the attitude that you want when trying to get out to relax and have fun. I wanted to hear the music I had paid for and they didn't care to skip some songs despite the bar being pretty much dwindled to very few people. The people who had played some songs were gone or I would not have asked. This is probably why I've only been there a few times despite the close proximity. This is the type of place you go to if you live close by and...
Read moreFull disclaimer I'm adopted from Ireland so when someone at the bar says "I too am from county cork!!" I can only respond "Is That You Papa? PAPA!?" Of course I'm just joking and good thing the guy was laughing b/c that's a gamble that could go either way.
Up-Date 4th of July Edition: Everyone super friendly just looking for an excuse to laugh I never can get enough of the genuine artifacts they have on any one of the walls, me and 2 friends played pool while we enjoyed some really great food, courtesy of the bar.
I know you can buy a Guinness anywhere but they have a truly great set up that basically ruined me for any other Guinness, unless it's from Molloy's you better be in Ireland b/c it don't get better...
