Ice Cream Hut — Restaurant in Colonial Beach

I've been living/visiting CB since I was around 4 years old. I'm 19 now. In all my time here, there hasn't really been an Ice Cream place on par with Ice Cream Hut. Nancy's has always been nice for a quick soft-serve, and Denson's Grocery Ice Cream was great before they jacked the prices up, but nothing compares to this place. They have an amazing atmosphere, lots of flavors, and cones that don't leak out the bottom! Crazy right?! I've been here 3 times, and every time has been great. I recommend the limited time Chocolate Eclair flavor if it's available. I will be going here again and again for as long as they are open. EDIT: I used to give this business 5 stars, but I've switched to 4. They added food items to their menu, and they are pretty mediocre. The service with the food was very slow as well. Some of the people we went with ordered their food, waited 30 minutes, and when they inquired about the late food, the employee stated that their order was forgotten, and they hadn't even started. If I could give less than one star I would! I do not even know if what they are doing is legal, seems very fishy to me. Went yesterday and bought one item that was a certain price and was told I was charged $1.25 extra for using a DEBIT card??? When questioned they stated that they charge that for any card used!!!!

So I got cash, went the next day, ordered 3-THREE items. Every single item was subject to the $1.25 price AGAIN because it was a BIG order, 3 items?? I ordered a sundae with two flavors of ice cream, so because it was not a standard menu item, IT also had an up charge!!!!!! Three menu items cost $20, one was only two scoops of ice cream!! I felt like I was really taken advantage of and also everyone else that goes there. I guess they think it is okay to take advantage of everyone trying to have a treat. I will be contacting other departments in the state and county to look into these questionable business practices.

Our 1st visit to Colonial Beach VA. Drove by The Island Hut & kids wanted to def stop by On our way out of town. Fun vibes, misting spray, outdoor games like a big connect 4 & cornhole. they have more than just ice cream like shaved ice and I know there's other things on their menu but I forgot to take a picture! We had a good time. i'm glad I did not order anything because my daughter's had a lot of ice cream, shareable! She tried double fudge brownie: says it was tasty but not a lot of brownie bits. Hubby & son tried chocolate chip and cookies n cream. Single scoop came in a waffle cone and was ginormous!
