this place is right off the busy road of academy. it’s very spacious and has a variety of different types of seating (both outside and inside). they even have a private room for big meetings. i stayed here for roughly 4 hours and no one complained, and there was enough seating for other customers, even when the shop was at its busiest. the customer service was average. i ordered a medium americano with pumpkin pie spice and it was so-so. it was about 4.80. tasted like the cup of coffee i make at home, didn’t really taste the pumpkin-ness, but it wasn’t bad. when she was making it, she asked if i wanted room for cream and i said sure just because i like adding my own cream. then she hands it to me and says “i added cream” just something i didn’t prepare for. they give also ordered an egg croissant sandwich with spinach and swiss cheese. it was kind of bland and i could’ve made it better at home. this place does not have music. they have a small book shelf for “take a book, leave a book” and games that you can use. overall this place is great for if you are wanting pastries (sweet breads, croissants, danishes, cinnamon rolls, and cake) or delicious burritos. i’d probably go somewhere else tho if i want a smooth cup of coffee. i might come back to try their lattes. i didn’t get one this time tho because they were so expensive (5.15 plus another .99 for added flavor).
update (12/2022) their lattes are so nice. probably one of the best i’ve had in colorado springs. the roast was sweet and smooth. they’ve really upped their game. quiche was okay, probably won’t get it again as the smell was kind…off-pudding. their cinnamon rolls, though, very good,...
Read moreI stopped by the other day when I was at the VA, and asked "Can I just get a simple espresso"? Now, I'm not a coffee snob, but I have been a soldier in Germany and Italy, and whenever I asked for an espresso, I was given a small, 1oz cup; basically what you get from the machine when you press the espresso button. You fill the portafilter with coffee, lock it into the machine and press the button for a single espresso, usually 1oz but can be slightly more.
So you can realize my suprise when I was given an 8oz cup of coffee! Is this a Colorado thing? Or just a Jarhead thing? I'm not a professional, but should you be running a coffee shop if you don't know what an espresso is? Here is the definition:
"The term "shot" refers to the amount of liquid that can be consumed at once, which is about one ounce (25 ml) of espresso, plus or minus 10%."
Anyway, I didnt't want a cup of coffee, I wanted a single shot that I could throw back and get on with my day. I stead I was given a cup of coffee to carry around.
The coffee is ok, but there isn't a lot to eat or snack on. Well, not "healthy" stuff. I was looking for a sandwich, but all they had was candy bars, bags of chips and ramen noodles, like in a vending machine, lol. No bagels, no croissants, no cookies. If you need a coffee, it's ok, but don't plan on buying anything traditionally found in a coffeeshop to eat.
But seriously, ladies....learn how to make a simple shot...
Read moreMiss the old ownership. Coffee ok. Had a coupon from previous owner (3 months ago?). But under new management it was denied and said they aren't honoring any specials from past management. That's cool. Unfinished remodeling. Whatever. I miss the opened space they blocked off for a new conference room. Was the space that was for kids if you brought them. No kids books/puzzles/welcoming environment. Went there to conduct an interview for a new nanny and owner said I was sitting wrong and shouldn't have my feet curled to the side snuggled up on the couch. He told me they just got new couches. They are very nice couches! I agreed with him. I'm sad he misunderstood WHY the previous owners had ratted couches. They were ratted because they were well loved. They had wears and tears on them for a reason people. (Anybody remember Fraisers dads chair? Ha!) This was a beloved coffee shop place to RELAX and CHILL. Oh well. Just sad that it's not the welcoming environment it use to be. Won't be meeting other moms or bringing my littles (who are well behaved and can sit still!) here for a special treat. We would probably get into "trouble." There are other coffee shops in the area that are gracious hosts and want to welcome you in for a special treat. Will be giving them my business instead. My husband and I own our own business and understand to not micromanage our customers. There will be a learning curve for this...
