I did a supply delivery today to this location. Unfortunately when i showed up there was no one there and no one was responding to calls or chats (it was a bit early), so i ended up waiting about 40 minutes until someone showed up. Per their instructions i couldn't leave the delivery unattended, which is no problem to me, i did not mind the wait like others may have.
They were so apologetic and the one gentleman (Achmed(sp?))insisted i come back later in the day for some food for the inconvenience of having to wait so long.
I was hesitant because i was unfamiliar with the cuisine, and i am on the Autism spectrum with severe sensory issues surrounding food especially, as well as some food allergies. But he was so kind and insistent, that the next time a delivery took me to their side of town i made sure to stop by to get something. Their restaurants always smell amazing when i deliver to them.
The girl at the counter suggested the Ultimate plate when i asked her for help since id never eaten at such a place before. I let her know my peanut/tree nut/coconut allergies beforehand so she could help me better. And the hot tea.
Oh my goodness let me tell you everything in that box was absolutely succulent and delicious. The only thing i didn't eat were the tomatoes, simply because i love tomato by products, but i can't stand the entire fruit lol, that's a "me problem", not the restaurant in the slightest.
I ABSOLUTELY will go back the next time i have a chance and a bit of extra money for dinner with me.
Thank you so very much for that amazing experience. It was definitely the best I've had in ages and one i won't forget or soon...
Read moreAs my friends and I were leaving the restaurant next door, we stopped in front of Heart of Jerusalem to chit chat before going home. Faris, the owner of the restaurant came out and offered us some of his AMAZING Baklava after overhearing me talking about how much I LOVE their Tabbouleh. So, then he gave myself and my friends some generous samples of a few of the goodies they have! It was such a kind gesture, and very appreciated!
While I was there, I got some of the Sage tea as well. And let me tell you, it’s the thing I look forward to the most, every time my husband and I go in! There’s something about it that makes it just what my taste buds need (:
The atmosphere of this restaurant is my kind of vibe. It’s the kind of atmosphere that gives you a hug when you walk in. And the friendliness of the staff and owner makes you feel like family! I know food is a big part of restaurants, but a big part for me personally is the experience. And I’ve always had great experiences here!
My husband and I started going to the Austin Bluffs location a few months ago. We’ve frequented it at least once every couple weeks since then! It’s definitely a favorite of mine. We’ve only came to the Filmore location a couple of times, but I think it’ll be the one we go to from now on!
Bonus: Heart of Jerusalem’s vegetarian selection is SO healthy.
So, yeah, go check this...
Read more10/10. My wife and I shared the Kebab Sampler -- it was too big for either of us to eat on our own -- and added a Vegetable Platter just to round it out. This ended up being too much food for the two of us, but it was worth it because there really wasn't anything we wanted to skip. The chicken was marinated in something wonderful and was oh so tender, the lamb was sublime, and I could've eaten the kufta all day. As for the veggies, the dolmas were the best I've ever had -- tender and not too sour -- but the falafel was better than that. Perfectly crisp on the outside, perfectly soft and slightly doughy on the inside, and just a symphony of flavors all around. And the fun little heart shapes! You owe it to yourself to get the falafel. Oh, and the hummus would've been the best thing on the menu at many lesser restaurants.
I realize I've gone on for awhile, and this might sound hyperbolic, but we really did enjoy this place that much. I can't even tell you if the Turkish coffee is any good, since I'm not a coffee drinker, so if it is go ahead and write your own review. Bottom line, you should try Heart of Jerusalem if you find yourself in...
