Oct. 2024 Returned to COS for a short food/rest trip and 1st on the agenda was this restaurant.
Upon arrival, I realized this was a different branch from that I had originally visited and reviewed.
This is much farther out of COS downtown but, definitely equals 5⭐, too.
The ambiance is very Mexican, the former, having more modern touches specially, the exterior.
I am guessing, this is the original branch.
We dined on a weekday, early afternoon and nearly had the place to ourselves except for 4 other parties. This is not filling up the place as it is huge if you look at the structure from outside (refer to pictures).
There is a gift shop/store that offers a wide array of Mexican goods. I even saw a (Denver) Broncos-inspired beer mug.
Ordered: Chicken Enchilada Plate Camarones Rellenos Flan (for dessert)
Definitely 👍 and worth withstanding the hunger on the drive to COS.
Service was very warm, courteous and efficient.
Open and lots of free parking spots.
Updated - Oct 2024 (Original review below is supposedly for the Nevada Ave. branch.) Aug. 2024 Weekday (work) lunch with 4 other ladies.
No wait, seated immediately but, the restaurant had a good number of diners.
Very artsy, tastefully, though, Mexican-inspired decorations. The big metal artwork outside as one enters is beautiful!
We had: Carne Asada Huevos con Chorizo Nachos Platter Queso Fundido Sopapillas Leche Flan (and 3 other main entrees)
Everyone gave their food 👍. While still dining, I was already making plans of returning with my Husband, who loves Mexican food.
It was my 1st time to try Queso Fundido and Sopapillas and both were good. The Queso Fundido I definitely 🥰
Another winner was the Leche Flan which is exactly the same as the Leche Flan in the Philippines 🇵🇭.
A tip: Servings are huge even for appetizers.
Service was 👍
Welcoming, friendly and fast! The latter, very much appreciated as we were famished.
First time diners? I recommend the Queso Fundido (app), Huevos con Chorizo (brunch item, but, I loved it), and don't forget the Leche Flan for dessert.
Definitely will be included in my food places to visit when in...
Read moreI visited today to enjoy lunch with my brother while he’s in town and recommend this place. I’ve enjoyed this place in the past and honestly my last couple visits haven’t been the best; however, today is why I’m here with this review. Once sat we waited 15 min just for them to bring salsa and chips and they dropped it off we gave them our drink order (cool no big deal it’s a little busy). 30 min later no drinks, no one has checked in on us, nothing. The waitress finally comes over and asks us again for our drink order no recognition of how long we have been patiently waiting and that we already ordered. We decide to put in food now too since it took forever and she gave us attitude… At this point I’m annoyed so I let my brother order and I decide not to get anything and the waitress gets mad I’m not getting food now snatches the menus and walks away. I actually cannot believe the audacity. The kitchen brought my brother’s plate out, he ate. The waitress again was never seen or checked in on us so we asked another waiter for our check paid and left. If this is how you feel your customers should be treated, I don’t want any part of it. My last experience was similar with the wait time but the waiter was super nice and that it...
Read moreWe were hopeful for this restaurant after reading the reviews but ended up being disappointed in the food. Though the menu looked extensive and listed many items, everything we ordered was very bland. It felt like a Mexican restaurant for white people many of whom we witnessed participating in cultural appropriation and wearing a sombrero to celebrate their birthdays. This behavior made me uncomfortable as it is culturally disrespectful. The servers were friendly as they enthusiasticly pretended they liked the white washed "Mexican" food. I ate a chicken burrito smothered in queso. The chicken was slightly dry and had no flavor. The queso also had no flavor. I poured the very mild salsa on it to add some flavor. My aunt had empenadas which also had the same dry bland chicken. They were definitely not authentic empenadas. My son who is very picky and likes bland food enjoyed his kid's beef burrito. The beans were decent. Everything was edible but it could definitely use more flavor. If you enjoy authentic spicy Mexican food this is not the place for you. If you are a child, drunk off margaritas, or someone that doesn't like spicy food this...
