Extremely Dissatisfied with Bakery's Lack of Professionalism and Communication

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the service provided by your bakery. On April 20th, I placed an order for my daughter's birthday cake, following your suggestion to order a week in advance of the event, which falls on this Saturday.

Last Friday, I reached out again to confirm my order, only to be met with the shocking news that you cannot fulfill it because the person responsible for making the cake is on vacation until next Monday, the 13th of May.

What baffles me even more is that on the 13th of April, your bakery posted about ordering events for any occasion, giving the impression that you were fully operational and prepared to handle orders.

While I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, the lack of communication and disregard for the commitments made to customers is completely unacceptable. Planning events requires careful coordination and reliability from vendors, qualities which your bakery has failed to demonstrate.

I am deeply disappointed by this experience and will not only refrain from doing business with your bakery in the future but will also make sure to share my negative experience...

Hi! I'm gonna have a hard time just trying to explain how good the empanadas are. I'm actually the kiddo and I've stolen my mother's phone because my phone isn't showing me the option to leave a review.

To start, my birthday was a bit rough but my mom and I came in to pick up some tres leches cake as per tradition for me. We bought tres leches cake with flan, some pastries and most importantly for this part of the review, a pork empanada and an chicken empanada.

We got back to the car and took out the empanadas and dug in only to stare at each other in awe as we slowly ate these incredible empanadas.

We forgot any further lunch plans as we soon had eaten both empanadas in silence, a comment here and there about the perfect balance of sweet crust that's fluffy and crisp at the same time the filling is delicious and savory and moist without making the crust soggy at all.

A moment of silent contemplation and we went right back in to buy two more of each.

We haven't even gotten into the cake yet and I fully intend to edit this later when we do for a review of those sweets too.

To sum this up in a single sentence...

Norma's empanadas made my birthday a whole lot better and I haven't even tasted the...

Deeply disappointed with today’s bakery experience. Despite preordering and paying for tamales, we adhered to the 5:30 pm arrival time for an 8 pm closing, only to discover the store locked. The worker we approached refused our order, insisting we should have called ahead. After contacting the owner, we were asked to wait outside for 25 minutes. The absence of courtesy in notifying us of an early closure for paid preorders was frustrating. Notably, approximately five other customers and a DoorDasher were also stranded outside. Clear communication was sorely lacking. While recognizing it’s a family-run business, this level of service was unacceptable. Relying on Facebook updates isn’t practical, as we don’t regularly check, and it shouldn’t be our responsibility given the guaranteed pickup time, unless proper communication or updates were provided. Compensated for the inconvenience, we finally received our order after close to 40 minutes of waiting when the...

Norma's Bakery is a small neighborhood bakery on the corner of Academy and Maizeland. It's new enough that it doesn't have a sign, yet. It's tucked in the corner between the Schlotzsky's and CFMAF Martial Arts & Fitness, closer to the martial art studio. I picked up the container of meringue cookies (about $5), because I think they're a pain to make, so I'm happy to buy them and support a small business! There were two kinds and were pretty awesome! A friend of mine picked up a container of mixed cookies (about $5) and gave some to me. I liked the happy face cookies, because they're so cute and happy! My hubby said that the jam for the happy face stuck to his teeth a little. There were some beautiful cakes available and even slices of the beautiful cakes! That's a great reason to go back later! Best wishes to you!
