Just ok as far as escape rooms go. Nice staff but the rooms themselves are lacking compared to the more premium options
Edit: Just wanted to explain a bit more after seeing the owner response so you can make an informed decision.
We did the first room with friends who were only all available at a limited time window. This wasn't our first choice but the other options were booked. We had fun but we could have fun doing almost anything with that group of friends.
My wife and I visited a second time because they were running a July 4 special with a significant discount and we thought a harder room might be different. We just had another "good enough" experience. I don't want to spoil anything, but the clues/puzzles just felt less interesting/satisfying than other places we've been.
The things we got stuck on both times were either issues with the locks not working or puzzles that didn't really make much sense even in hindsight. In addition, the lower production in set design is a big negative for us.
Until they make some upgrades, I wouldn't go back again without another significant discount, and even then, I'm not sure if I'd go unless I knew they made major upgrades.
My personal rating for the place would be more like 1-2 stars but I'm setting it at 3 because I still think it's a good place to go if you're just getting into escape rooms and aren't ready to spend a bit more. Also, our friends who had this as their first time experience would probably rate it around 4, so I'm trying to keep that in mind with my review.
Like I and others have said, the staff is great, and I wish them the best. We aren't local, and the next time we're in the area (probably next summer), we'll definitely check the website to see about the updates...
Read moreWe did the professor study and had such a good time we immediately did the next one (McManus map, its a sequential story) and it was great. Very well done and challenging. What really impresses me is that if I am not mistaken, the owner designs these room they are not developed by a production company like every other escape room we have been to. I highly recommend. I want to come back for sure.
Edit 3/23: we came back with our son and his friend to do Season of the Witch. Spooky and so much fun!! After doing over a dozen other rooms in CO Springs I appreciate the challenge of this location more. These rooms are harder and nothing is really obvious, you really have to think. If you haven’t tried it yet you need to! Next up - A spot of tea!!
Edit 12/23/24 - this place is now under new ownership. STILL a local small business - and STILL unique games they create themselves! New rooms and older rooms are being "redone" with different puzzles etc - so we cant wait to try them again! Also part 3 of professors study will be opening soon! I have done all but 6 rooms currently available at all escape rooms in CO Springs and this is still one of my top...
Read moreHad fun! Super good presentation, multiple rooms, nice decorations. The puzzles were good, some super obvious and some that took a little thought. So it kept us interested without being impossible. The employees were nice and the hints were okay.
Took off one star, a lock was faulty and the game master had to come in to open it. It was a more uncommon type lock. We were not instructed on how to reset the lock so all of our attempts were essentially for naut. Also, the example they gave on the same type of lock was a different length than the in-game lock and there were no clues to give us how long the length was so we were solving based of the example. (But that part is a little nit-picky, since we did end up figuring out the code)
The bigger part is that we were told we had to pull a little hard to get it open but no more than two finger strength. The game master used the same exact code but yanked it extremely hard to where we were surprised on the amount of force used. They gave us some time back for that and we did end up escaping in the end. Would have been an easy 5 stars without the faulty lock...
