My wife was an absolute joy and we definitely had a good time having a laugh at the dysfunction unfolding around us. The restaurant was beautiful with amazing views. however it’s all downhill from there. Don’t make me wear a formal jacket for this sub-par restaurant which has some major kinks to work out. Not worthy of the 5 Stars, location and affiliation with the Broadmoor resort, truly an over priced, disappointing experience.
When we checked in 10 minutes prior to our reservation, the hostess somehow deleted our reservation which was corrected after we waited 20 minutes after our reservation time and noticed other couples were being seated ahead of us.
The dining room was packed, loud. The staff was overwhelmed with tending the tables, working the service carts for drinks, some entrees and desserts. Whoever came up with this concept needs to rethink it, Definitely takes away from the experience and adds chaos.
Bread was nothing to brag about, tasteless dinner rolls. For appetizers we ordered Agnolotti en Brodo and Roasted Ruby Red Beets & Brie. The Agnolotti won this round which comprised of mini raviolis with mushrooms that was drowned in a broth with truffle oil? The Beets seemed fresh out of a can and Brie were simply that with a hearty hand full of arugula on top (who eats that much arugula?). The main courses were better however still lacking flavor that you will find at any other Broadmoor restaurant. For the main course e ordered the halibut and seafood risotto. We didn’t make it to dessert too many hands in the cart I prefer not to have fingers on my food or the ignorance to not see it happen.
The service was ok, our assigned server was clearly overwhelmed and we had to ask several times for service from others that were walking by.
Usually we would try again in a few months. However we will probably wait for an article announcing an overhaul. Definitely recommend La Taverne and the Summit. They are both amazing Broadmoor restaurants that...
Read moreMy husband took me here for Valentines Day. I have never had a fine dining experience and after this, I must admit, I can never go back to a normal restaurant experience. The staff was incredibly attentive, informative, and generous. My water was never more than 1/4 gone before a kind gentleman came and filled the cup back up. Another waiter was pleasantly outgoing, and good naturally kept bringing my husband bread because he had mentioned how much he enjoyed bread with his meals. If I left my chair for a moment, I would return to find a fresh napkin folded neatly on the arm, and a waiter or waitress would suddenly appear to pull my chair back for me. I even witnessed waiters coming out of the kitchen with our food, and stop when they noticed my husband wasn't there. They disappeared into the kitchen and returned with our warm food seconds after his return.
The bar made the best mixed drinks I have ever had. Watch out, though! The bartender knows what he is doing; he made our drinks taste mild and easy, but they still give you a nice hit! I asked to him to show me his skills and make me something off the top of his head. He smiled and created me something delicious, and I had to stop myself from drinking it too fast!
The food was outstanding. I understand that people can be upset that they are such small portions, but the meal is five courses, in addition to the mini appetizers that are brought before EACH course. The style and flavors indicate that this was made by an educated and seasoned chef. I know how much it can take to make taste buds sing, while showcasing food as an art. It was done brilliantly. It did not matter how full I was towards the end, my taste buds enjoyed every bite of food, right until the very end.
The environment was beautiful. It was perfectly lit and the live jazz music was the perfect background music. There is a dance floor, and couples comfortably and causally danced throughout the night.
This was an outstanding night; a night worth...
Read moreIt took 5 years but the results show it was worth it. This closed down in 2020 and never reopened post pandemic. We’ve been to the Broadmoor many years and enjoyed The Penrose Room before with its views of the sunsetting behind the mountains. It was the old country club look and feel with a dance floor where Lawrence Well and his band with a bubble machine would not have been out of place.
NOT anymore! The redesign is beautiful. Just perfect. Brought up to date for current styles, a great lounge to have drinks and appetizers and take in the view from corner windows. The bar is inviting to sit at with a friend and see the mountains through the bottles on glass shelves. Or sit at one of the coffee table style seating in front of the fire place. It’s cozy, hip, and yet has spacious areas.
The menu - commendations to the executive chef. Very tasty selection of appetizers along with sushi. Our Penrose sushi roll was one of the most flavorful I have ever had. (And we eat sushi every week).
We didn’t have any entrees but it looked really good from beef Wellington for two to Colorado lamb or seafood. Caesar salad is made table side. Again, the best tasting I have every and.
Finally, don’t miss the cart martini or old Fashioned. Ot only a fun presentation but the bartender will offer choices of every ingredient and explain the differences.
Dinner jackets are required for men (I personally like this touch) it don’t pass on going - they have jackets of all sizes to loan you.
If you aren’t sure about dinner jackets- you gotta go for at least a drink and the view at sunset.
This is THE best place to dine or sip a drink at the Broadmoor now. Hands down.
Great...
