Agavero's Mexican Experience — Restaurant in Colorado

We used to LOVE going here, but the last few times, we've been treated quite poorly. I'm not sure why. We are great tippers, and we loved our waitress who would always take us. The last few times have gradually gotten worse, so it's not a 'maybe just an off night' for them. They used to seat us in a table that would fit our group, but squished us into a booth with a chair in the back corner this last time, (there was a large table that could accommodate us, but they opted to cram us in the back). They didn't clear the table from the appetizers (NO room on the table for our meal). we had to stack ourselves and ask them to move it... remember we couldn't even fit in the booth. After our meal, we waited for about 10 minutes for the check, all of us went outside to wait for the person paying, as there was NOBODY left in he restaurant, and maybe leaving would signal we wanted the check. They ignored us as we tried to get their attention, and it shouldn't be up to us to flag them down, especially being the only people left. I went back in after waiting an ADDITIONAL 20 min for him to come out, and the guy working had put ALL of the chairs in the restaurant up and STILL hadn't brought the check. I told the guy we hadn't paid and we wanted to go, he acted like he didn't understand us (of course he did) and finally gave us the check. We still left our waitress a good tip, but left feeling very unwelcome. Sadly, we won't be going back. So it's a hit or miss with them. I’ve contemplated this review all night, the food was great however we did have a very off experience.. I asked for a refill on my water and received the same glass back but with tequila. I am pregnant and did accidentally swallow some, I was so thirsty and just drank to quick, thankfully just a small amount was swallowed. Sounds like one employee was making pre mixed drinks and walked away? another walked up grabbed the glass of pre measured tequila and gave it to me as my water. I understand a mistake, however what I can’t understand is why someone would grab a random glass of liquid that they didn’t pour nor see poured and give it to a customer. It definitely makes me wonder what else goes on in this restaurant that is unseen. I didn’t finish my meal, I felt sick thinking of the possible consequences of that sip. I also now feel sick thinking of any other person who could’ve been in my position, a recovering alcoholic, a child, someone with health concerns. This is a mistake that should have...

Couldn't find many dining options after 9pm (other than fast food), so my wife, daughter and I settled on this place after seeing so many positive reviews. We were sorely disappointed. None of us drink, so we can't speak to that end, but it appears most of the positive reviews here are raving about the alcoholic beverages. First of all, the menu items are way overpriced; in my opinion no "authentic" Mexican restaurant should have entrees over $10, unless it's enough to feed more than one person. Second, the portions were small. Third, my daughter and I were both served enchiladas that weren't even room temperature. The taste of the food was marginal, at best. Really the only redeeming qualities about this place were the chips and salsa, and the service was decent.

Bottom line, we would have been much better off going...
