Disgusting!!! very disappointed everything was extremely salty and old almost seemed as if it was recooked food !!! If you are looking for real authentic Mexican food this is NOT the place.we ordered our food which took a good amount of time to get to the table when my fathers tacos (de carnitas)came they had a horrible smell I understand that the cheese thatâs used to top it is usually smelly but in my opinion the meat almost smelled rotten. my sister ordered Gorditas and when she brought it to us the Gordita was almost rock solid !! Practically you couldnât eat it unless you wanted your jaw to hurt. At first the waiter was nice but as soon as we explained our concerns about the food she began to get an attitude calming if we are from the south? She said that here in Colorado the food is salty. that the restaurant was under new management so the food obviously wonât taste the same which I totally understand.there was a time when she said that the food is a mixture of Mexican food and something else .. I believe if that was the case they should change the name bc itâs obviously not just Mexican food. The agua de horchatas they serve are also disgusting they tasted so watered down that we didnât even want to drink it , same as my fathers soda he ordered a coke and it had no Gas just tasted like sugar water.AGAIN IF YOU WANT MEXICAN FOOD this is not the place paying 10+ for a plate that you expect to be good not...
Read moreI've been here a half a dozen times and the first time was stellar! Recently however it feels like the overall experience may be going downhill a bit. The service as always was friendly and attentive. both of the servers took the time to stop and greet my puppy and one of them pleasantly chatted about dog breeds for a moment with me We did have a few minor issues with the cleanliness of the cutlery and the glassware. Honestly I'm not a nitpick by nature but I can say for certain that they missed a few spots. We ordered a carne asada burrito and a chicken gorditas entre. The menus doesn't say much towards the spice level of the gorditas, and I'll say this .. they were far, far too spicy. I'm not shy about the heat level of food. I handle Thai hot just fine. These weren't by any stretch past my limit, but I have to complain a bit that there was no real warning. My 8 of 10 is many people's day ruining spice level. The carne asada burrito was quite tasty. It had well seasoned cilantro lime rice which was perfectly prepared to a slight bite, but not too tender. The black beans were very fulfilling and the carne asada was very, very tender. Juicy, savory and all around perfect. So well done, in fact, that I was a bit dismayed at the small proportion used in the burrito. Still incredibly good...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of dining at Kalaka Mexican Kitchen in Evergreen last night, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The food was flavorful, fresh, and well-executed, with standout dishes that impressed even the more selective palate at our table.
My boyfriend, who typically isnât a fan of Mexican cuisine, thoroughly enjoyed his trio of tacosâchicken, asada, and carnitas. Each was well-seasoned, generously filled, and served with care. His unexpected enthusiasm for the tacos speaks volumes about their quality.
I opted for the chicken spinach quesadilla, which exceeded expectations. This is far from your average quesadilla: packed with chicken, mushrooms, a hint of spinach, and just a touch of cheese, it offered a richer, more balanced flavor while feeling lighter and healthier than traditional versions.
The service was warm and welcoming, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. Weâre already planning a return visit for Taco Tuesday, especially since the tacos are a fantastic value at just $3.99 each.
Kalaka has definitely earned a spot on our list of local favorites.
Update May 24, 2025: We dined at Kalaka again and had the Chicken Spinach Quesadilla and Chicken Enchiladas (photos included this time) and the complete dining experience was once again...
