Lots of potential here. Staff was kind and friendly. Appears to have been established with all the best intentions. For dart players a great find. Enjoyed a couple drinks during the visit and had planned to eat but just wasn't too hungry at the time. Will return to give it a taste as well.
3.5 stars would have been more appropriate, but 3 wouldn't have been fair since reviews only allows a solid star choice.
There is a since of being a bit dated or trying to hard to adhere to a more traditional dark wood, low light bar. Being the corner larger of units in a strip type plaza, there's plenty of room and ceiling height to relieve any sense of cramp, if busy.
While not family centric, or if that's even a want... Currently it seems to be more attractive to the local crawl home from another drunken venture over a place to meet new people and grow a community of support, through entertainment events and evolving and changing food delights. Resting on anything as a steadfast would be at a risk to sluggish growth and minimal growing success as an investment.
Wrong time of season. Not aware of agreement with strip owner(s) but plans to extend since a corner space to an outside area with seating, lounging for dining with fire, and other comforts of space this roadside addition could be a great draw to increasing visibility of the location. The plaza itself is in need of better ownership care, but an investment in this corner bar space alone from both tenant and plaza owner could increase not only acceptance but the investment gains of this location. Curbside appeal was the weakest part of my visit.
Met a client there to discuss the marketing and strategies for their annual event knowing that visiting these types of establishments is a hobby/passion of mine. Its in places like these that you can find the heart of a community or lack of.
I would recommend a brightening in design but still using a lighting structure easy on the eyes and low enough for a relaxing ambiance. The "bright enough" that you can see where attention is needed (floors, ceilings furnishings.) In darkness it's too easy to loose site of attention areas that resonate to visitors care of the dining area. Which translates to return visits.
Dynamic menu build with ever changing additions to test against response over. a period of time, may lend to "I know this place that has the best '?'". Finding a nitche through a standout dish or two to comfortable inside and outside experiences in a noticeably clean and well kept establishment, would be of great benefit.
As an owner of the plaza and not the bar specifically I would showcase that unit as a centerpiece of their attention to their tenants by assisting in development of an exterior lounge area to better advertise and visually what the interior experience will be before arrival.
Centering the bar and using different elevations throughout to create groupings and comfort areas with lighting to impress, would go along way in attracting a large crowd rather than a specific crowd.
This hidden cove like area backed up below Colorado Mills and tucked in to the interchange of Golden, Denver, Applewood, Wheat Ridge and Lakewood is prime. Just missing that desire at a risk to...
Read moreWent to this place yesterday evening. First thing the server said was to give her a second. This was not a problem as we had just sat down and were not in any rush. When she came back to our table , she proceeded to tell us that she was the only server on and that she was swamped before even saying hello. Again , this was not an issue as we were not impatient. I then asked her for three things , a beer list , 2 Waters and happy hour menu. She told us she would get us the waters but she did say that she can have the other two items. I noticed beer list tents on the other tables. I've been asked her if she had any gluten-free beers or ciders. She done told me that they did not have any gluten free beer and that they did have cider but from her knowledge they were not gluten free. Like wine , cider is innately gluten free. So the fact that she said that surprise me. So I said really? And her response was that they may be gluten-free but she's unsure because no one ever told her if they were or were not gluten free. And then she just walked away. She didn't tell me what ciders they had as someone who has been gluten-free for over 15 years , you do not need to tell me what is an is not gluten free. You just need to tell me what you have and I can make my own assessment from there. My point is she made us feel so unwelcome , that we walked out without trying the food or the drinks. It is too bad because I have been dying to try this place for the last year and my first experience was a bust. I own my own restaurant and I know how people should be treated. I would never treat anyone like this at...
Read moreThis place is a MUST! If you like great food, exceptional service, and outstanding beer, stop looking and go here.
Vicki and Kevin were super helpful with recommendations and good conversation. They helped us pick out the best dinner! We are so appreciative of them and their kindness, humor, and of course their great taste! Thank you both!
The beers: I had 3 mini pours. One was the double IPA that benefits Search and Rescue another was an imperial stout aged in Whiskey Barrels and the third was a mix of 3 variations of their imperial stout. All were great but the first two really shined! The double IPA is a tricky beer to make without it getting too pulled in any direction. This was flavorful, tastefully hopped (not overboard), not dank, not overly bitter. It is a beautiful creation! The barrel aged stout was also well-balanced. So many people do so many weird things to these too. In my opinion, this would be the imperial stout to take lessons from.
The pizza was also phenomenal! We got the rancher and it was just what we were after. Not super heavy, but savory enough to satisfy. 10/10
This was the perfect casual date night for us and Mountain Tap is going to...
