THUMBS DOWN. DON’T BOTHER.
Meh. If you are hungry, this is not the place for you.
Hosting a friend from out of town, I decided to try a different sushi restaurant. Yelp showed this place in Evergreen that had excellent ratings and was 20 minutes away. I thought, why not? Menu looks large and varied and it's been awhile since I've gone up the hill. Called ahead and made reservations for 6 pm on a Thursday night. From there it was all downhill.
This is a small, family run operation that seats about 35 people and does a strong carry out business. Probably because the next closest place is at least 20-30 minutes down the hill. All in all, it took an hour to receive our sushi - we made the fatal mistake of ordering lukewarm appetizers. The sushi was meh - dry and tasteless, the service even worse. The quality of the food was BARELY above grocery store sushi and we all know how bad that is! Did I mention the bug zapper above the door and almost right above my head? - that only added to the ambiance! (Not).
If you are truly desperate for sushi in Evergreen, do yourself a favor and run to the grocery store to pick up supermarket sushi. While there you can pick up some booze! Nana Sushi Thai doesn't have a liquor license and you will want liquor to tolerate the experience. You can get a can of warm pop served with a straw, though!!!!
Not worth the trip, not worth the wait, not...
Read moreIt only took 8 years of living here - but there’s finally a restaurant I can recommend in Evergreen!
The tonkotsu ramen is amazing - great flavor and the chashu (pork belly) melts in your mouth!
The age tofu is simple and so delicious. Deep-fried to perfection to be lightly crispy yet tender and soft on the inside.
Oh - and it’s official - Evergreen finally has good sushi. I no longer am forced to go down the hill to fulfill that craving!
When I go again, I’ll likely pass on the drunken noodles and order a recommendation from the other reviews instead. (The chicken and vegetables were delicious and tender to perfection, but the overall flavor wasn’t quite cohesive - and the noodles stuck together.)
Service was super friendly and genuine. It’s in the original Dandelions Cafe location so it’s very small and I think they’ve done great with the space they have.
I hope this place only continues to improve because Evergreen needs...
Read moreThai 101 is a simple little place with a simple menu but has something for everyone. The restaurant is simply decorated, most drinks are mostly in bottles or cans but they do have fresh boba drinks. We started with the fresh rolls and egg rolls which were freshly made and had very tasty dipping sauces. My wife ordered the pad thai and when asked how spicy she would like it my wife said not spicy at all. When it came out it was just that, there was no spice and the flavors were delicious. I got the pad see you and I told the young lady that I wanted mine as spicy as she wanted to make it, unfortunately mine too was not spicy but the flavor was incredible. My wife ordered the strawberry boba tea and she loved it. This place is a great place for people who aren't sure about Thai food and want to try different things and heat levels. We would...
