What happened to the wonderful summer lake concerts enjoyed by so many for years? The new rules are no outside alcohol and they have cordoned off entry and exits with orange construction netting in order to have teenage or young adult volunteers go through your backpacks and coolers to make sure of this. They will sell you a tiny plastic cup of wine for $7. The youngsters will check your ID and give you an wrist band. Oh andaccording to the website dogs are no longer allowed due to expected large "crows". And instead of the free raffles once enjoyed for swag bags highlighting our local businesses, they now continually pass around the bucket for you to give cash towards their deemed charity. It really seems like Evergreen Park and Rec is no longer about getting members of the community out exercising and building community, it's now just about soaking as much money as possible out of families who want to get their kids outdoors. It was $250 for my son to sign up for basketball for 6 weeks and his dad volunteered to coach! How does that make any sense? Also look at how overpriced ice skating on the lake is, last season it was close to $100 for our family to go ice skate on the lake for a couple hours last winter...the prices are just so excessively high...it is not great for...
