I have been coming here since the place opened. Today was the first time I had a negative experience. I sat at the bar and ordered a Cajun chicken sandwich as well as a drink. It took over 45 minutes for the food to arrive. The bartender didn't pay much attention that my friend's food had arrived before mine did when he ordered after me and didn't think to inquire more about why I was still sitting at the bar waiting for my food order to come. In the past when I've gone the bartenders were much more attentive and concerned about making sure me and my party were taken care of. The fact I had to say something to another staff person there without the bartender. It sucks because I really like coming to the Colts Neck Pub. I've been here many times before and had great service. But the fact that this bartender wasn't even apologetic about my food taking forever speaks volumes. I also came here last year around my birthday and the bartender then was more charismatic about it beingy birthday than the bartender today. The bartender even had the nerve to say "oh you have friends" when I mentioned I was waiting for my friend to arrive. I get that bartenders will make remarks at times but I was surprised she would make a remark like that right off the bat without really talking to me. I am giving this review 3 stars because the food was really good. I will give this place another shot but this bartender was not my favorite by...
Read moreI so wanted this place to be good. As we in town have a bit of a culinary challenge when it comes to local eateries, Colts Neck Pub leaves you extremely disappointed and I’ll say it, sad! First the good. Service was excellent! Decor was well done! Lots of TV’s, Beer was very cold! Food was a dismal failure! It was like they didn’t try at all. I would bet they headed down to the local Restaurant Depot, filled up their truck with frozen prepared items, brought it back and reheated it. We ordered Jalapeños poppers for an appetizer. Definitely no effort. I had a Cuban sandwich. Lousy bread, thin piece of ham, thin piece of pork and maybe a slice of pickle. My daughter had chicken strips with fries. Again Restaurant Depot specials reheated. My wife had a chicken quesadilla. Eh, it’s hard to screw that up. Just nothing special. Before you say it. I don’t return food or look for comps. Your restaurant needs a real chef to create a couple signature items. Some specials??? Reheating prepared food is not going to cut it. We already have that in town. I wish you the best of luck! Oh, one last thing. Put a hostess stand by front entrance. You end up standing around looking stupid not knowing how to...
Read moreMy friend and I came here. First thing I've noticed is that this is frequented by locals. First thing and foremost that I like about this place is that when you walk in every staff that is present is quick to acknowledge you when you enter. My biggest disappointment in any of the restaurants that I have eaten at is that when you walk in no one is there to acknowledge you're there. Regardless of the food quality or the ambience if they are not quick to acknowledge you in a timely manner I'm quickly turned off. This place is quick to do that even the bartender who is very busy acknowledged us. And we were quickly seated. The food was excellent as well as the service. Never thought of pub like this could be so welcoming and food is just as good as any restaurants I've been. We had the truffle tots as an appetizer and a few drinks which were excellent. This place is a true gem and I recommend it to anybody that is in the neighborhood just wanting to eat really good food great service and great atmosphere. They had a live band playing that night which was a plus. People here are friendly...
