Crafty Crab — Restaurant in Columbia Heights

I placed an online order for Crafty Crab in Minneapolis the other night and had a terrible experience. We ordered 2lbs of snow crab, 1lb of Muscles, 1/2lb of sausage and 1/2 lbs of shrimp Online ordering was easy and decently easy to understand. When I got to the restaurant to pick up my order there were three orders in bags sitting on the counter, the lady who rang up my order didn't look in the bag to verify anything. I got back home and started pulling our dinner out of the bag, only to have 2 bags bags of seafood.... we should have had one bag and an order of calamari. I looked at the first bag and it only had crab in the bag the 2nd bag had more crab and clams I called the restaurant and the first lady on the phone couldn't understand me complaint and handed the phone to another lady. The 2nd lady proceeded to argue with me, interrupt me telling me that she put it in the bag and it was right. after 5 minutes on the phone I noticed there were two tickets on the bag, the one stapled to the bag appeared to be what was in the bags... the 2nd ticket was taped over the top of the stapled one and was my ticket... I explained this to the lady on the phone and she agreed that the order was wrong and said they would remake it. When I got back to the restaurant they took the bag of food I brought back into the kitchen... as soon as the lady walked into the kitchen another couple came into the restaurant carrying a bag, as soon as the other lady saw them come in she went running back into the kitchen getting the first ladies attention... about 2 minutes later they came back out of the kitchen holding the bag of food out to the other couple, I saw the same grease stain on the bag that was on the bag I brought back.... I sincerely hope they didn't give the other couple the food that I brought back and was out of the restaurant for almost an hour!!!! After i got home, nearly 2 hours after i placed my initial order... the crab was small but decent, the shrimp were good, the sausage had very washed out flavor, I'm hoping from being cooked/warmed in the garlic butter sauce, The Muscles were TERRIBLE!!!! the muscles only had one side of their shells, and all the muscles were gritty/mealy and extremely fishy, we ended up throwing away all but two muscles that we tried. The calamari was OK at best... it was very large rings and the squid itself was tenderized... so it was very cheap calamari and not worth the price they charged for it.

All in all I would hard pressed to go back to the restaurant and wouldn't recommend...

When we drove up we were a bit worried as it is not a brand new building however, the interior is fresh, clean, and bright. The staff was very nice and quick. We ordered and it was out very quickly. My fiancé ordered an appetizer of hush puppies to sop up the juices. He then ordered a boil of crab legs, and half-pound of shrimp with heads on, in Lemon/pepper butter, and mild spicy. I got a boil with crab legs, half-pound of crawfish, half-pound of shrimp with heads on, half-pound of sausage, in their special sauce and garlic butter with medium spicy. Each boil contains potatoes and corn. Let me tell you, I loved this so much that I could have drank the juice with a straw! This was just like a place down in Alabama that is one one my favorite places to have a boil. I loved everything about this boil. It was perfectly buttery, spicy but not too spicy so I could taste the seafood itself and I could. It was quality seafood and the addition of the seasonings is amazing. I was full half way through so I brought half home. I finished it for supper and the potatoes had soaked up the delicious buttery sauce and spices and man it was tremendously YUMMY!!! We will not hesitate to come back here and bring our families as well. Next time, we will get the lobster, Scallops, Crab, and head on Shrimp. I may go back next month for my birthday!!! We live 2 hours away, but we will be back! Try this place if you want a really amazing and a bit messy meal...wear the bib, NOT KIDDING, as it saves your shirt! You will not be disappointed in choosing...

Place was a ghost town had my concerns already not a big seafood guy, but my wife and son love crab legs which they seemed to have enjoyed, as for me I ordered 20 lemon pepper wings well done extra seasoning wings arrived 10 min after the seafood with no seasoning, tasted like regular wings no lemon pepper so I ask the guy on the floor for extra lemon pepper he tells me it's already on the wings I said ok the my waitress came back asked how was food I'd ate 1 of the 20, ask her does that look like extra lemon pepper she Said no and left I thought she was at least going to bring some out but no at this point in my mind I go wow I didn't eat another wing finished my 5 delos for $20 once my wife and son finished with the boils I realized it was only maybe 10 people eating I noticed kids running around playing I could see why it only was 1 waitress when it was time for the bill waitress boxes the chicken up for with extra seasoning guess hoping I wouldn't take them off the bill but I couldn't get none while you cooked my food or even after it came out but when its time to go, now it's take the lemon pepper and go I wouldn't recommend a dine in or wings or even beer for a six pack it's 20 with them 12 for 14.99 at the store however idk some places are only good for takeout orders Excersise Extreme...
