Mango Tree & Sushi Restaurant After returning to Mango Tree & Sushi Restaurant after many years, we found that while the food remains excellent, other aspects of the experience could use some improvement. Ambiance: 3/5 The interior hasn't changed over the years, giving it a somewhat dated and worn appearance. An update to the decor could significantly enhance the dining atmosphere. Food Quality: 4.5/5 The culinary offerings continue to impress. We ordered the Nigiri platter, which featured a good variety of fresh sashimi. The miso soup was particularly delicious, showcasing the kitchen's skill. The standout dish was the Kua Guai noodle - a dish so good it alone would bring us back. Service: 3/5 There was only one server on duty, who, while efficient, seemed fatigued and slightly brusque. This could be attributed to it being the end of a long day, but it did impact our dining experience. Overall: 3.5/5 Despite the dated decor and service issues, the excellent food - especially the Kua Guai noodle - makes Mango Tree & Sushi Restaurant worth revisiting. However, improvements in ambiance and service consistency would greatly enhance the overall experience.

(Note: this review is for my visit there on October 25) Went there about two weeks ago to get some food to go. My friend from out of town had just had a dish from there and recommended the Mango Tree as we were nearby. The staff was really friendly and prompt. Now for the food. I ordered the red curry, but when we got back to my friend's place, it appeared more like yellow curry (which I really like as well). Tasted it and it was a bit sweet like yellow curry dishes are. Plenty of basil in the dish which was great. So, if this is their red curry compared to the many experiences with red curry dishes from other Thai food restaurants I've had, it is not close. I still liked it though, but I can't warrant giving more stars for what they call red curry. It's possible they gave me the wrong dish. The image I'm providing is what my wife ate of what I saved her and she even said that is not red curry (she's Chinese from Malaysia).

Super miffed to find imitation crab in the sashimi platter; complete and utter disappointment. Update: I wish I could say that the actual (non-fake-crab) sashimi was good…but it was quite smelly. It reminded me of the smell of a seal exhibit at the zoo. Look—I get it that sometimes as a land-locked region, sometimes your supply dwindles. But don’t serve it. You should have the integrity to mark the menu item as “Out of stock” or whatever. Don’t accept $30+ and then serve low quality food.

Having eaten a lot of Asian food in the US, Indonesia (where I lived for 15.5 years) and Singapore (which I visited several times while in Indonesia), I like to think I know a bit about the subject.

I ordered our food on the phone and then picked it up to eat at home. At no point did they ask me about spiciness, which should've been automatic. Also, when I ordered 3 sides of rice, the lady asked if I wanted 2 or 3, making a statement that suggested that one of the meals came with rice. I ordered 2 extras, and was not given the third she'd referenced.

I cannot comment on the restaurant and dining service since I didn't even sit down. After telling me the total, the cashier walked away and the hostess took her place, which I thought was a bit rude.

Fried calamari came with a weak sweet & sour sauce. The octopus was fresh and the sauce was nice, but this was not special.

The summer roll was almost devoid of any flavor other than the mild flavor of the shrimp and all the veggies, resulting in a very bland flavor. I added my daughter's wasabi and pickled ginger to make them enjoyable.

The chicken satay was properly cooked but had a bland peanut sauce.

The fried shu may (aka siomay) tasted fine but didn't have any spices added to give it character or an Asian flavor. It came with watered-down soy sauce.

The Siam Trio was cooked right but was pretty boring due to a very subdued sauce. I couldn't differentiate between the chicken and pork visually, just by taste. The beef was unremarkable.

The salmon roe nigiri was as expected - a fishy, salty flavor with nothing offered to complement it other than watered-down soy sauce. It definitely is an acquired taste for some.

The volcano roll sushi was one of the better items, although it was not exceptional. It came with watered-down soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger. The wasabi was fresh and the ginger tasted good without being overpowering.

The yellow curry was the highlight of the meal for me as it tasted very nice. It was made entirely with local vegetables, and I had them use tofu.

Given the cost vs the flavor, quantity and cost of the ingredients, this is an over-priced restaurant that doesn't deserve its current rating. I had hoped the few negative reviews were outliers but now I can see why. Mango Tree seems to skimp by using fewer spices than are advisable, resulting in food that is not identifiably Thai, and they use mostly locally-available vegetables, allowing them to have a massive profit margin instead of offering moderately authentic dishes. My kids and I agree that it...

The Mango Tree, a true gem tucked in a Mariemont plaza, where you can rely on excellent, high-quality dishes at moderate prices, in a casual, family atmosphere! We keep returning year after year and have introduced many friends and family members to the "Mango!" Appetizers you can make a meal of and flavorful Thai and Asian entrees, some of our favorites include: chicken satay (love the peanut butter sauce), edamame, vegetable tempura, crab rangoon, crispy tofu, and pineapple fried rice with cashews, and must-have Thai iced tea!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I must say I was shocked to read Julie A.'s review after what, I assume, was a one-time visit! Maybe the impression was given after a mad-rush, but Nick, the owner, is the total opposite of the person described! Nick gets into the trenches with his staff in the kitchen to turn out amazing food you can count on! When things have quieted down, his routine is to then come out and check on his customers to make sure your food is to your liking and you have everything you need! This is in addition to the friendly and attentive waitstaff! We've always felt welcome walking in the door, no matter the hour, and have NEVER ONCE FELT that only making $$$ is the goal. Much the opposite, we feel Nick and his staff strive to serve high-quality, great-tasting food and, simply put, that their customers are happy and satisfied! I'll add that it's absolutely normal in any good restaurant to see staff clearing dishes and wiping off tables after customers leave.

Just last night, Nick greeted us, as we literally, stepped through the door! We've had the pleasure to get to know Nick over the years, a kind, soft-spoken man who loves his family (watch his face light up when you ask about his children), he genuinely cares about his customers, and absolutely takes pride in his business! As you can tell, we highly recommend the Mango Tree and encourage anyone to make it your family favorite, too! PS. Nick...Love the beautiful murals, the...

I have been coming here for years now. Never once have I ever had such terrible service. From the moment we walked in, I asked if it were possible to sit outside and immediately got an eye roll from Kylee (a server), as if she was annoyed everyone wanted to sit outside. Mind you, there were maybe 4 other parties outside and 1 party inside when we arrived. We decided to not be a hassle and to just sit inside. Well, Kylee was our server. Every part of the service was awful. She greeted us and didn’t seem happy at all. We understand sometimes you can have rough days being a server (my guest and I are both current servers), but to say we felt unwelcomed is an understatement. She never asked us how our food was or asked for refills (I sat there for a good while without a refill). Anytime Kylee came to the table she would barely talk to us, not even a “you’re welcome” when we thanked her….nothing. The only time she somewhat talked to us is when she asked if we wanted the bill. Now this is the part that infuriates me. When she took both mine and my guests card to check out, she walked straight to the kitchen and was in there for 5 mins, came out delivered food MULTIPLE times, took an order from a table, refilled drinks for another table. All while having a card either in her pocket or in the kitchen, we aren’t sure. Coming from a serving point of view, we would NEVER hold onto someone’s card for 8+ minutes doing other tasks, you should immediately check the guest out and give their card back. We are disappointed as we love Mango Tree so much, but truthfully Kylee made us feel unwelcomed in the near future. My advice to her… be more friendly, we all go through our own personal matters. I promise it is not hard to speak to a table and put a smile...
