Day Trip to Downtown Columbia

We are new to the area and decided to try this little gem based on reviews I read. I put their name into Waze and it took us to their old location. We Googled and it took us to their new location. What a cute place! It's cozy inside with comfy chairs and has plenty of outside seating. Right now, it's a little warm for outside seating, but I am excited to enjoy in the fall. The menu has plenty to choose from and something for everybody. We had the pesto BLT and the Stuffed Ham and Cheese. The BLT was good and had a little uniqueness compared to the norm. The Stuffed Ham and Cheese was a bit over the top. A steak knife rather than a butter knife is more appropriate to cut through the cheese and bread. It's definitely something you will want to share. It was still good; it's just not something we would order again. Next time we will order the raved about charcuterie board and vanilla French toast. The drinks are fabulous. The Hugo Spritzer is so refreshingly light and tasty. The basil added the extra yum factor. The espresso martini is on point and delicious. The service was wonderful. Everyone was attentive and friendly. I highly recommend giving this place a try. We will be back soon!

Buck & Board is my go-to spot for patio dining and people-watching when the weather’s nice. The area buzzes with activity, especially during events near The Square. They’ve recently revamped their patio with a sleek concrete pad, offering both high and low tables, plus propane heaters for chilly evenings and a refreshing breeze when the wind kicks up. Their menu boasts a great selection of soups, salads, and cocktails—perfect for a light, healthy lunch with friends. The service is consistently excellent, and they craft a mean Old Fashioned or Espresso Martini, depending on what I’m feeling. I often visit with family, and we love sharing a charcuterie board. Last night, during First Fridays, we snagged a prime patio table early, with plenty of street parking available despite the nearby event. Thunderstorm warnings lit up our phones, but we took the chance. A sudden downpour hit, but we’d mostly finished our meal and moved inside to a cozy, packed dining room. The staff was fantastic—no rush to clear us out; instead, they kept our drinks topped off and encouraged us to enjoy the live music. Buck & Board is a warm, one-of-a-kind spot for food, family, and fun. Highly recommend!

Our waitress Maris F disappeared and this is the very first negative review I’ve ever given.

This is our first time visiting Columbia. We were looking for a pet friendly lunch place while we waited to check in at our Airbnb. Bring Fido suggested Buck and Board and the food on their Instagram looked AMAZING so we had to give it a shot! We found a table outside but it was dirty so we waited for someone to come clean it. We waited for several minutes and finally someone came with menus and silverware. The waitress immediately placed our menus and napkin-rolled silverware on the table and I asked if we could have the table cleaned. She seemed irritated but maybe I read that wrong.. who knows, people have bad days. Anyway, after about 5-10 mins she came back to clean our table. We ordered drinks and she noticed our pup with us and said she would bring him water- how nice! She finally came back with our drinks but no water for our Oliver. No worries though I eventually donated one of the ice waters to him. After SEVERAL more minutes she came back to get our order- two boards, then we told her we wanted to also order sandwiches but didn’t know which ones and asked for her recommendations. The boards came out fairly quickly. They were GREAT! But, we never saw Maris again, ever 😕. One of our friends never got a refill, our dog never got water (from her) and she never came back to ask if we wanted anything else. We eventually had to go inside to pay so we could...

Our family went to Buck and Board twice. The first time was at the old location. We remember fantastic food and great service. This time, we made a date with our daughter, her husband and baby to celebrate our daughter finishing her Master's Degree. We went for lunch because we thought it would be less crowded. It took a while to receive our large meat and cheese charcuterie (35 minutes). When I asked about it, the server rolled her eyes and said they were working on it. We ordered sandwiches and drinks about 25 minutes after the charcuterie, that we still hadn't gotten. Our sandwiches came shortly after the meat and cheese board was brought. My drink was never refilled, but my son-in-law asked for another beer and it was brought right away. The waitress finally asked if I wanted a refill after my husband asked for a box for his leftover sandwich. Before the server walked away, I asked for the check. She blatantly rolled her eyes again and said she was getting it. By this time, we had been in the restaurant for 90 minutes. The food was delicious. The service was meh. When a server rolls her eyes when a customer is polite and asks for items that should have been offered, and then answers curtly with eye rolls, it is now making me second guess whether we return. It also took an inordinate amount of time to...

This was our first and last visit. We went on Friday for lunch and it was quite busy. In my opinion it is understaffed or staff just isn't managed well and service is poor to non existant. We stood at the bar for 10 min before we were acknowledged and told we could sit anywhere, not only did we but many other people had to wait long periods for a table to be washed off and it was still sticky and dirty. The server brought our waters and then came back once to see if we were ready to order and we weren't so she left and just never came back. Eventually another young girl came out and started making rounds and got refills done. She was exceptional, she came by and asked if we had our order taken, she took our order but that took 45 min to get after ordering. The meat and cheese board was underwhelming, grapes were squishy almost rotten, and the items on the board weren't even Aldi quality. The grilled cheese was good, it came out hot. The prosciutto wraps were also good. The Basque cheesecake tasted nice but it was very thin, thinner than a pie, definitely couldn't call it a cheesecake. In total we were there for close to 2 hours and only took 20 mins to eat, the rest of the time was just waiting, waiting for service then for the food that did not have to be cooked except the grilled cheese that...
