Packard Playhouse — Attraction in Columbia

I didn't even know this place existed until last month when I was looking for a unique experience for my best friend and boy I was not disappointed! We caught one of the final performances of Fiddler on the Roof, and it was so wonderful - and timely. The acting was high caliber, the dancing was lively and the music and the singing... I felt it! Excellent in every way. One of the most memorable performances by a local playhouse that I've seen in a long time. I highly recommend buying tickets to everything they do.

All the staff were friendly and helpful - get there early and familiarize yourself with the location of the bathroom, exits, stairs, etc. The building was once a large mechanic shop that worked on Packard automobiles, hence the name Packard Playhouse. It's a lovely, time worn building in Downtown Columbia. If you go to a Saturday Matinee, you'll get out in time to be able to catch a dinner at Puckett's or Ice Cream at Hattie Jane's, or any number of other little diners...

It is a treasure and a joy knowing Columbia now has such a superb performing arts company. This is not a mere community theater -- this is professional level performance. We saw Fiddler on the Roof, and I was absolutely stunned. I had heard good things about the Packard Playhouse - but I was convinced I was watching a touring company. The casting, vocal talent, set design, lighting, music, choreography...everything. I think another reviewer put it well: "Wow. Just wow."

My only regret is that this was not so local or accessible when I was growing up here. I would have felt I had died and gone to heaven to have had such a theater so close...

Intermission for the Sound of Music presentation at the Packyard Playhouse in Columbia, TN. One word sums it up - "WOW!" What a huge & wonderful surprise this is. The performers are excellent in every aspect. Beautiful singing, superb acting, the stage settings are just perfect, and the orchestra is the icing on the cake! Oh my! I can't use enough "!!!". I never expected this live performance to be this superb! Bravo...
