About the Farmer's Market at Riverwalk Park in Columbia TN on Saturday mornings (check online for other days of the week)...
Quite a few inviting offerings in a nicely covered area just outside the park. Easy to find. Available items included farm grown red meats (good variety of cuts) and poultry (many options), fancy gourmet mushrooms, pickled items, BBQ rubs, home-baked goods like breads (sourdough), rolls, pastries, pies, fresh eggs (various types including quail), vegetables of every sort, peaches, home-stitched items, and honey. One lady even had chicken/rooster earrings. She was also selling coffee to drink.
People bring their own canvas bags, but a few of the vendors have plastic bags. Some of the vendors use hard plastic or styrofoam containers for their food items.
Only a few of the vendors had prices listed on their items, which I found to be very annoying (I wonder if people haggle over prices or if they quote different prices for different people.) How exasperating to have to ask every vendor the price of every single item they sell! C'mon people!!
I went at 8:30 a.m. and there was still plenty of parking - some spots in the shade. Very pleasant and friendly atmosphere overall. There was even a small bluegrass ensemble playing in the back of the market.
Prices were high, to me. But as I said, many vendors didn't even mark their items with prices. (Sigh...) But yes, I will return. I want to try those mushrooms, fresh...
Read moreThe splash pad is nice, although the timer on the water seems a little short. They have restrooms, which I like since my toddler is potty training. (I haven't used them, so I don't know the quality.) The only playground is the one behind the elementary school. All the equipment functions and the swings don't squeak!! But there is no shade, which makes some of the slides too hot to go down. It's a great place to walk and for young kids to play in the water. They could use a few more trees around the splash pad to provide shade for parents who don't wish to play...
Read moreRiverwalk Park is a very nice park to take the family to and have something to eat at one of their many picnic tables, take a walk on their walking trails, take your dog for a walk, or play some Pokémon Go. There's handicap parking in their main parking lot and also at the restrooms up near the farmers market pavilion. The main pavilion has 4 or 5 large picnic tables, and there are numerous walking trails that go from the dam all the way to Pilow Park on the other side of...
