DB's — Restaurant in Columbia

My husband and I have been looking for a new pizza place to replace our old restaurant in our former town. We ordered a comparable pizza and the bacon cheese fries. Wonderful food! And we eat in different restaurants all across America as we travel for work. The cheese fries were perfect. There was still cheese and bacon when you got to the bottom, not soggy, real cheese and bacon. The pizza was just as good. Love the thin crust and how cheesy it was. We were there for lunch and it was busy. There was one server and the manager was helping to take drink orders and run food. Even though they were running on a skeleton crew, we never felt forgotten or neglected. Outstanding service. Furthermore, we had stopped in a few days before and they were not currently open (thanks CoVid19) but the manager spoke with us and encouraged us to come back, explained the hours of operation and even offered us a gift card. We didn't take it but it was appreciated all the same. Today, he remembered us and came to check on our experience. I can't say enough good things about his customer service. We ordered pizza online from DB’s tonight. We tried this place years ago when it was under different ownership and was called something else. It was very bad then, but we decided to give it another try. We really regretted it. We ordered 2 pizzas and wings. My husband said the wings tasted excellent, but the meat was very dry and overcooked. They were also a little pricey. The pizza was awful. AWFUL. The crust was thin and crunchy, but also tough and hard to chew. The cheese was very thin and so over-cooked (burned) that it was tough. The sauce was non-existent. Also, I specifically ordered extra sauce and extra cheese on both pizzas. How do you order extra sauce and end up with no sauce? What if I hadn’t asked for extra sauce? How could they have given me less than the none they gave me? And I paid $3.00 for extra cheese on 2 pizzas and got 2 pizzas with a very thin layer of burned cheese. Overall, super-disappointing! I could have spent half as much and gotten twice as much way better pizza...

Eh. It's not as exciting on the inside as much as it looks like on the outside. Their "most popular pizza" (just a supreme) was cut perfectly, but after being seen grabbing our own plates off of another table, our second pizza looked like a 5 year old cut it. The worst garlic knots I've had in my entire life. Greasy and crunchy as if they were left out and day old dough, swimming in a pool of butter and grease to mask that fact. I should have gotten the wings. Although, if 7 dollar garlic knots were horrible, I wouldn't fork out 11 dollars for wings. Our server was new, on his third day, I believe. Seemed like he was the only one willing to work and worry about customers' well-being. If it weren't for the new server going above and beyond I wouldn't rate this place as high.
