Nothing about this experience was pleasant. It’s a weird vibe as soon as you walk in but we looked up crab dip and heard it was good here and wanted to try it. The menu is really limited as far as food but they have a variety of wines and liquors to choose from. Our waitress, Polly, I think, needs to go to waitress school, or at least take a course in customer service, she was the worst! I ordered a Prosecco and she brings it in a wine glass, which I don’t know why because they had champagne flutes. So she brings me a very small pour. My colleague ordered a flight of wines so we thought it was one of her flights. I pushed the glass to the end of the table to wait on her to come back and ask her about the small amount of Prosecco in my glass. When she got back I asked her what size pour this was, she said the standard 5oz. By that time my colleague for her flight and the two glasses were almost identical. So we ask what oz the flights are and she said 2. Puzzled we say they are about the same. This child then replies, “well it’s because you drank some of it”. I I informed her that I did not in fact drink out of the glass then the next thing out her mouth was “well I must have over poured on hers, but I’ll top yours off” talking about my prosecco. So she takes my glass over to the bar and calls all her colleagues over to examine the glass. Instead of just pouring more prosecco into the glass these women are looking at the glass, kneeling down to examine how much is there, and breathing all over the glass!!!!!! They all determine that’s the right amount of prosecco because she shrugs her shoulders and pours two more drops into my glass and brings it back to me. And I mean literally two more drops!!!! This is the poorest behavior I’ve seen in a restaurant in a very long time, is prosecco that hard to come by? The poor child wasted almost a whole glass of wine pouring flights for my colleague because she didn’t know how to open the bottle and titled it on the side. This of course shook up the bottle and when she opened it, still on its side, it sprayed all over her and the floor. If wine is such a scarce commodity, teaching your waitresses how to open bottles should be the first place you start. Then maybe you can pour more into the customers glasses instead of it being wasted on the floor. We ordered crab dip as an appetizer, I’ve had better. We left after that and went to this burger bar right around the corner and had the best time ever!!! I would never return to this establishment, or ever recommend it to anyone. Go to...
Read moreI’ve been coming here for a while but as of late I have been disappointed with the staff. The last couple of times my party has been ignored at tables because our waitress and bartender have been drinking and chatting at the bar. We had to call for her to come over which I made us feel uncomfortable since there were people at the bar who were getting attention and we did not want to distract other patrons.
Last night a friend’s glass slipped out of her hand shattering it and getting it all over the table. We did have one waiter come help wipe it up with paper towels but she left the roll on the table and told us we could get the rest. The table was sticky. When we were about to close out my friend asked if she could remove the drink from the tab since she was two sips in and you could tell by the amount of liquid on the table that it was not just ice. Maren, claimed she was the manager, when in reality we know who the actual manager is. She told our friend that if the, “company makes, it we have to buy it.” It put a bad taste in our mouth to see them talking behind the bar drinking wine when our friend who is sitting in her own drink had to pay for the drink with no reimbursement or one on the house. They were not too fond getting called out for being slack and rude, but we felt as if something had to be said.
We all asked for our checks and the bartenders asked if we could, “could just go” and “I don’t even leave a tip.” Some of us wanted to leave tips because the waiter was alright but Maren was unnecessarily rude. When we asked for the copy of our slip when they ran our cards we did not have a customer’s copy, so I will be checking my bank account for additional charges. We left Maren said have a great night, which was comical because her kindness was insincere. We left to go to another bar which we spoke about in goats because, quite frankly we did not want to be there any longer. Maren showed up there and glared at us. Totally uncalled for. Unfortunate that she known for her rude behavior and is still employed in the...
Read moreGoatfeathers has been a favorite of mine for over a decade. This little bar with big character offers a stark contrast to the normal 5 Points crowd. It's a dark, swank bar with quilted wood ceilings, low lighting, music to match the mood, and a huge round table in the center. It is a fantastic place for any type of conversation, whether its at the large round table with a great brew and strangers that are always interesting, or at a booth with a date nibbling on dessert and sipping on coffee. The food is excellent. It isn't fine dining, but you get a lot for the money, and it is tasty. They also have great happy hour specials on their food. There have been many Saturday nights that have started there over lightly breaded chicken breast over linguini in a basil cream sauce and a glass of wine. The bartenders - Opie, at least - are great. The servers can be fairly poor. They're not bad, but some of them in the past have had an apathetic attitude towards actually serving people. If there is one drawback, it is the servers. They could do better. That is a minor complaint really. You don't go there for the service. You go there for ambiance and the atmosphere. There isn't another place in Columbia like it. There isn't another place anywhere that I've been...
