They have a sign outside stating they are “pet friendly”. It was myself, my husband, our child and our Great Pyrenees Annie. I opened the door just to double check that they were pet friendly, just to be courteous. & the older lady that answered me said “well we are but your dog is too big”…so we left after I made a joke about her being breedist. I was willing to let it go, i got coffee at PSC, and was walking by again to go home. The same lady came out & said “ma’am I’m not breedist it’s just your dog is really hairy and we don’t want the hair” (me thinking didn’t she just say that my dog was too big?). Also thinking hmmm pet friendly and worried about hair? That doesn’t make sense at all. I responded and said “well you shouldn’t advertise as pet friendly if you only cater to certain dog breeds”. I bet if a golden retriever, (a dog that sheds just as much), walked in there they would have been perfectly fine with it. The fact was my dog was too big looking to her so it disqualified her (Poor Annie). I’ve never had any truly pet friendly place not welcome my dogs until today! Don’t advertise as pet friendly if you really aren’t! Simple. If you want to only cater to certain breeds & sizes then you need to specify on your sign. We just moved to town from Colorado where there are tons of places that are ACTUALLY pet friendly, I’ve never experienced this ever! I was really looking forward to trying out this place too. So that sucks. I will also mention the restaurant was empty too. So it’s not like it was crazy busy or they had a lot of customers either. Pic of my sweet Annie girl. Now I know how Pit bull...
Read moreI had the opportunity to try out Griddle's Malt Shop in Columbia for Breakfast. I had heard good things from others, so I was eager to have the breakfast. You'll look at the pictures, and you'll think "Well, looks like a standard breakfast." Folks, the pictures do not have "taste-o-vision." And that's what you need to appreciate this food. Everything tasted "Better." That's the simplest way I can explain it. The home fries especially stand out here. When I say they were cooked perfectly, I mean PERFECTLY. I've had what I thought were home fries before, but now I've had the best. (And I'm more of a shredded potato guy.) Slight crispy on the outside, but tender potato inside. Imagine the best french fry you ever had....like that. Light white toast as I ordered it, was exactly what I ordered. Perfect. The dippy eggs were perfect, large yolk, and tasted, again, "better." And while the sausage looks like regular old patty sausage? Nope, "Better." I'm partial to maple-flavored sausage, but they have nothing on these patties. I started with the basic breakfast, but am now eager to try Some of the omelets I saw on the menu. I also have to try the lunch menu. Owned locally, really nice people. Here's the topper.....take a look at that bill: in and out for...
Read moreMy fiancé and I stopped in for some breakfast Tiffany was very welcoming and had a really nice vibe told us to sit wherever we'd like. It has a cozy feel and is decorated in antique memorabilia which I found endearing. The menu has anything you could want for breakfast, I got the frizzed beef gravy aka creamed chip beef over toast and potatoes and my fiancé got the champions breakfast which comes with two eggs, potatoes, toast, pancakes, bacon, and a sausage patty. First off the bread itself is delicious we both had white and it was so buttery, the bacon was fresh and cooked to order not cooked in a large batch then kept warm, the eggs were perfect, the pancakes had this sweet buttery smell that was irresistible and there was so much food I could barely finish. The potatoes aren't your normal homefries they are more like fried cubed potatoes which I personally preferred because they were all nice and crispy and had the perfect amount of flavor. Everything was seasoned perfectly and Tiffany was even kind enough to offer drinks to go if we would like. Now that is service! Will...
