This is the first time in my life that I have had to ask for a manager. Came in Sunday and was seated at 12pm. Server was friendly - took our drink and app order, then it took a while for him to come back to take our order. After we ordered he let us know the kitchen was running behind - no biggie - it happens. One hour later we finally got our food. We were happy because at this point we were hungry and started eating. One of the orders was wrong - it was just a regular Caesar salad and they brought her a wrap and fries. Once again - sucked but no biggie. He took it back and while the 3 of us started eating, we soon had to stop. 2 of the burgers (med rare) was completely raw. And the 1 well done burger was a hockey puck. It honestly did not even look like beef, it looked like some soy burger or something. The fries were so salty they were inedible and my sweet potato fries were not cooked. Server did not come back for a while so when the host walked by we asked for the manager. At this point we told him that we just wanted our check so we could go because we were hungry and had already waited over an hour to get our food. The 2 tables who came in after us had already eaten and left by the time this had all happened. The manager said he could not comp our food or remove the food we could not even eat but would give us a discount. I think that is just crazy. We are not one to make a scene or fuss - so we just paid and left. We finally got the salad to go. It was the size of a side salad - for $10!! Insane!! He should have done the right thing and comp'd the whole meal - or at least removed the items that we didn't eat. Only 2 people ate anything and we waiting forever to even get it. The menu looks great, and the location is nice. But worst food and service I have ever experienced. This was very disappointing because we were here out of town and out of all the restaurants we could have been to, we chose this one and left hungry, disgusted, and unhappy.

Pawley's Front Porch is one of those restaurants that has a lot of potential, but hasn't quite reached it yet. I went on two (2) occasions, once on a Tuesday night, and once on a Saturday afternoon. On both occasions, the bartenders and servers were nice, but slow and inattentive. Both times I went, I had to flag them down for more drinks and to close out. I got the impression that others were having the same problem, as one patron just asked for a refund rather than their order, and another guest looked annoyed and walked down the bartender to close out their tab. The first night I went, on Tuesday, I enjoyed the outdoor patio, but it was a little dark and felt a little too much like a nightclub. Because of this, it's probably not the type of place I'd go if I wanted to converse or interact with friends. I will say however, that the chicken tenders and fries were very good, and well above average. On Saturday, I sat at the indoor bar, and tried all of the establishment's IPAs. I'd say that two out of the three (2/3) were pretty good, and that they had a nice indoor setup. Again, the bartender seemed like a cool guy, but I feel like my beers were underpoured and I was missing out on a sip or two (2) of my drink. I think they were well understaffed, as there was a line outside the door when I left, but many tables left empty as well. All-in-all, I'd say that Pawley's Front Porch is a high-quality restaurant and bar, but they need to get their staffing problems in check, as well as perfect the little details that go a long way in maximizing the restaurant experience.

I had to make a quick trip to Columbia for business one Friday afternoon. I asked the Mrs if she wanted to go and we could find somewhere new to get dinner. A couple of the yungins heard "dinner" and invited themselves along. So much for date night. We took a look at a couple online sources and decided on Pawleys Front Porch. It was rated pretty highly. We also saw it was on Diners Drive-ins and Dives. This place is definitely of the dive variety. I don't know what their specialty is, but I know what it isn't. Everything was sticky. The food, the table, the chairs the menus... in fact, the menus all stuck together when stacked. The food was good. Not bad, not great, not special. My chicken paninni was good but was difficult to eat. The chickens constantly fell out of the sandwich. Mamma-n-them liked thier burgers well enough. The high spot was the fries. They were hot and crispy. The young lady who waited on us did I nice job. Did i mention they have a front porch? There are some tables and outside access to the bar. The bar was pretty well attended. We were the only table getting food at 4pm on Friday. It probably picks up later. This place seems like it would attract an evening crowd We have visited many Triple D restraunts around the country. They are fun to try and typically (but not always) a good experience. Unless we missed something, Pawleys is living on past glory. A comment made by the Mrs as we exited to the parking lot sums it up. "Look, Chick Fil A, we should have gone there."

This is a long review....1-21-2023. I met up with some friends and originally we wanted to go to Jack Brown's, but there was a very long wait. Typical Saturday night. We decided to go to Pawleys Front porch. We were told there is a 30-40 minute wait, no big deal even though there were open tables and did not seem overly busy. We were able to sit at the bar until our table was ready. First complaint, the bartender did not wipe down the bar top from previous customers. I was waiting patiently to ask her for napkins when I overheard her telling someone, I assume one of her friends, that if someone asks her for napkins, she is just going to start throwing them at them. I ended up asking the person she was talking to if she could pass the box of napkins. We were sat at our booth around the time we were expecting. I ordered fried pickles with extra ranch for the table. We still needed a minute to decide on our entrees. Our waitress came back after a pretty long wait to take our order. She then informed us that they were out of burgers. We were disappointed, but understood. One of my friends asked if he could taste the chili and she was polite and got him a sample of the chili. When she came back to the table she asked if he liked it and he tried to be polite by avoiding the question, but she asked again and I told her that we did not care for it. We ordered 2 chicken wraps and one of the burger items but chicken instead. We waited a very long time. By the way, we continued to see burgers being served the rest of our visit. I went to the bathroom, it was disgusting! The floor was wet and draining into the floor drain. Toilet paper sitting on the counter and not in the dispenser. When I came back to the table our food was there. I still noticed there weren't any pickles. My friends asked about the pickles and the waitress said she forgot to put the order in. A friend of mine and myself asked for extra ranch, when ordering, and our wraps were served with a side of ranch. There was no ranch on the wrap. The waitress told us they were out of ranch. I canceled the order of pickles due to the fact they were out ranch. We tried to enjoy our food. The fries were cold and hard like they had been sitting out for hours. The wraps looked like the chicken had been left over pieces from other cuttings. It was hard to find actual chicken meat and not just breading. My friend does not eat pork and asked for no bacon, there was bacon on her wrap. The chicken sandwich was the winner even though it was very dry. We finished our food around closing. It was very clear that the staff was waiting for us to leave. They were posted at the bar and as soon as we stood up, they went into motion. I will never visit this establishment again! The waitress only apologized about forgetting to put our appetizer order in. She seemed like she didn't care about the lack of food or quality of the food she put on the table. If this is the "service" that is being offered to people, they need to...

Attempted to dine here on 8/14 and arrived before 4:00 PM (not exactly prime time for dinner) and was told that there would be about a ten minute wait (that’s fine, I’m fine…for good restaurants there’s typically a wait). Went to the bar to have drinks while waiting for the table (did notice there were several open tables, but maybe they limit which ones are used for some reason). Bar was very dirty with used plates, glasses, beer bottles, etc from previous customers (good bartenders take pride in cleaning up the bar quickly after someone leaves). After the bartender made a path for us to sit at the bar, ordered drinks until the table was ready. Received a phone call from the hostess that our table was ready (approximately 4:10 PM). Once seated, took a solid 10 minutes until a waitress even greeted us (unusually long for that simple step). This is when the fun begins. Once we placed our order, it was a solid hour (about 5:20 PM) before the waitress came to apologize for the food taking so long and said that it would be about “15 minutes”. Then around 5:35 she came by again and said our order “should be coming out soon”. When asked when, she admitted she had no idea and stressed that it wasn’t her fault (she’s very likely right), but why did no manager or someone in charge come by and apologize and offer an appetizer or anything in the meantime? Around 5:45 PM we finally asked how much the sodas were and told $2.00 each (a good waitress/manager would have said don’t worry about it). We then left $5 to more than cover the drinks and left with no food (and very hungry). This was absolutely positively the worst experience at a food establishment I’ve ever had and to not at any point have a manager come by or be offered anything at all for having to wait so long was inexcusable. Don’t let the fact that this place was on Food Network or received any other notoriety make you go here. Heard they might be moving, but shut down this operation until you can properly provide orders to customers and treat them like they matter. On another note, noticed other tables that were seated after us receive their food and tables with more people receive their food. Maybe they chose to focus only on the large groups because it was more money. Pure speculation there, but also not unreasonable to point out. Lastly, heard folks at 2 tables next to us be told that they were out of specific items they ordered (I’ll give them a pass here because of ongoing supply chain issues in our economy). Should have paid more attention to the most recent review before this one that pointed out the unreasonable amount of time this place takes, but thought maybe it was a one off. Give this place a few months to maybe get things right and learn how to properly run a kitchen and/or treat customers before you spend your money here. Too many good places in Columbia and the...
