We came to Takosushi with optimistic expectations due to the one in Greenville. We were sat at the bar, where our bartender was not friendly. We were there two hours before our sushi rolls came out, which we were only served after we asked for the bill (we were going to leave and eat somewhere else after we paid). I work in the service industry (bartender and server) and have never been somewhere that I felt deserved the time and energy of a negative review. Whoever is the manager there seemed to have left their employees understaffed, and has created a culture where excellency is far from the expectation. Our drinks took an extremely long amount of time, as did our appetizers, one of which sat on line (which was in view for us) and then never arrived. Our bartender brought us the missing appetizer at the end of our entree after we told her we did not even want it. It was left untouched; we had seen it sitting out for almost an hour before the bartender carried it five feet to our stools. The food was fine—it took an extremely long time to come out and then what we received was not even quality. The bartender was rude and unfriendly; she seemed to avoid us even when we called her attention. She seemed overworked and we were often sitting at an empty bar—wondering whether there even was still a bartender on shift, as the bar was left completely unattended for many minutes at a time. There were only two people working at the sushi roll station and, as mentioned, they took two hours to produce four rolls. I was so excited to come here and this is the first time in my life I’ve ever decided never to come back somewhere because the service was that bad. I work in the service industry and this leads me to be very lenient, understanding when things are messed up. This was a different situation. The bartender, while definitely busy (as is a part of the job), was rude, did not run our food, and had unfriendly service despite the fact it was taking over two hours to receive our meals. She also forgot one of our appetizers and one of our entrees didn’t arrive until everyone was finished eating. We watched our appetizer sit on the line for almost an hour—five feet away from us and the bartender. I am so sad because I will never return here. Hopefully y’all can learn...
Read moreI was faced with a very similar experience as most. The wait staff was not even close to being punctual... Our waitress had one additional table from ours and it took 5 minutes to get our drinks. Additionally, my wife and I ordered the Bento Box, (first time ordering) we chose our Roll, went to choose our sashimi and additional roll and it was explained to us that we only get to choose the roll (cool). The rest was chefs choice... We were perfectly fine with that. So, we get our food and notice that it is a nice amount of sushi. At the end of our meal we see where we were charged for two additional sushi items 15$. I told the waitress we didn't order any additional. She made the mistake of adding them to our bill and giving them to us. She went and spoke to her manger and he explained that it wasn't his problem and we ate the sushi so it was our fault. I said sir... we were told it was chefs choice on what sushi was going to be brought out... How are we supposed to know what the chef choice was when our waitress when asked... didn't know? He said sorry not his problem and that if we wouldn't have eaten the sushi then he could've fixed the problem. the manager (brandon) is repulsive and shouldn't be a manager. He knows nothing of customer service and should be fired. So needless to say... we ate the bill for their mistake. WILL...
Read moreI’m upset that this place has such high reviews because I went there for that reason. Now that I’ve been and had a horrible experience, I’m reading the bad comments and they are 100% accurate. I’m actually just really sad I wasted my money. It makes me wonder if some of these good reviews are fake...? Food was horrible, way way overpriced, not fresh AT ALL, there were fruit flies flying around our food to prove it. I’m not kidding, fruit flies. They weren’t at our table the entire hour before our food arrived. As soon as the salad came out there were little flies flying around our food. When I told the manager about the flies and how they kept landing on our food he said it was due to “remodeling” Our appetizer was definitely frozen and just warmed up, we tasted the food and stopped eating, we left all of our food after just tasting it, uneaten and asked if we could just leave. I showed the waitress a dead fly in our drink, I showed her the untouched food and explained that the food was bad, bad like spoiled. The meat tasted bad, the food was not fresh. It didn’t seem to bother her, she cleared our plates (full of food) and brought me my $50 bill (one soup, one small side salad, one sushi roll, one order of spring rolls ((2pc)), and one dumpling appetizer. Water to drink) I was given this bill even after speaking with...
