City Art — Attraction in Columbia

My husband and I paid our deposit for a baby shower for February 5, 2022. Unfortunately, our infant son contracted covid as well as some family members and we decided it would be best to cancel. We emailed and texted Wendy Wells December 28 and December 31st to make them aware of the cancellation and inquired about getting our $400 deposit back. She never responded and read the text message. Again I messaged Wendy via email and text on January 8,2022 and she read the message again and never responded. This is such bad business and I would not recommend working with this venue for an event. In the contract it says if you notify the venue before 30 days of your event and with extraneous circumstances you can receive your deposit back - all of which we did and have been ignored. Seeing as though I am in my third trimester, my infant son has covid and the cases are rising in Columbia it was the best option to not continue on with this event. But I never would imagine this event director to be this unprofessional and not even correspond back with me about my emails and texts. Absolutely terrible and I believe to be taking advantage of a pregnant woman in a vulnerable time. I have yet to hear back from them, they never answer calls, emails or texts. art supplies are mediocre. got a few things I needed but the man who runs the art shop is rude. first, he didn't acknowledge that I walked in the store, and as a small business owner going to another small business, this makes a big difference. second, he sat and played on his computer instead of asking if I needed help. third, he didn't get up for a good five minutes from his computer or even look in my direction when I was waiting to check out at the counter. I asked him for suggestions on where to find something, and he completely cut me off to talk to another customer on the other side of the store, yelling to respond to him. no thank you for your business, have a good day, nothing. wasn't planning on coming to spend any money but just to browse, and ended up with a $50 purchase. $50 was wasted towards a small community business and I wouldn't recommend this...

City Art is incredible! I had my wedding ceremony and reception there! It was absolutely beautiful, perfectly intimate, and so much fun! All of my guest are still talking about it! Wendy was very professional, knowledgable of the space giving great advice, accommodating, and prompt with replying to emails and phone calls! I would 100% recommend City Art to anyone looking to have a truly magical evening that people will never forget!

For logistics: I had 200 people, 5 food stations, 2 bars, a band, 10 standing cocktail tables, 6 tables for seating, and a few miscellaneous tables for the cake, presents, ect. And there was plenty of room! The space is much bigger than it looks with...
