The absolute BEST management.. this one time I went in there I had a newborn baby koala in my arms… don’t ask. Anyway, I happened to slip because the soles of my AstroBoy boots had been worn down on the rough streets of Columbia, as I was falling I had lost my grip on Bartholomew (the koala) as he tumbled through the air my eyes met with his and I just KNEW I was going to be holding a memorial service for this sweet creature.. I could already envision his little koala family showing up in black attire, hearts broken, singing the aboriginal hymns of his people… just as all hope seemed lost management came from behind the deli counter with superhuman reflexes and speed that Flash and Spider-Man would be envious of and caught little Bartholomew with the gentle hands of a nail technician.. I broke my collar bone in 4 places and have to walk with a hunched back now, but even this unforeseen scoliosis is a blessing when compared to the thought of losing one of God’s precious gifts to humanity… I’ll forever remember that day… oh the food and customer service was A-1 as well. The paramedics and I all received free lunch that day and Bartholomew was given a memorial plaque in the men’s bathroom. 10/10 would gladly go again.

My husband has eaten here often and really wanted me to try it too. So I went to get lunch. It is a very colorful place with plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. I ordered the Chicken Charleston and Chicken Caesar wrap with a side of fries. The wait was about 15 minutes. The food was absolutely delicious and well made. Agree with my husband now!😁 Will definitely be going back for more.

Great place to lunch in downtown Columbia. It can get crowded, but there is indoor and outdoor seating. Sandwiches are huge, salads are very good, and large slices of desserts. My favorite is the carrot cake. Delivery is also fast. Gluten free options! Great staff. I left my wallet on the table a few visits agoand didn't realize it till hours later. Got it back with everything in tact.

We have had pleasant visits prior to today, but tonight was a hostile experience with Aleena (the location manager). My veggie crisp sandwich was not made correctly tonight: not toasted, had no onions, no cheese, and no avocado spread. The only items on it were thickly cut cucumbers, a small tomato, and bean sprouts. I asked for it without relish and on gluten free bread (when untoasted…falls apart). I asked for it to be remade, and they threw two pieces of cheese on it, not correcting the other issues. I asked for the manager to have it remade, and she argued with me, saying the sandwich had been made correctly. I said it did not taste right and always had been toasted in the past. She again said I was in error. I then asked for my money back and told her she had lost regular customers. She told me she had never seen me before, and I needed to leave, or she would call the police. Only, my husband and two other people were in the whole restaurant. He went to the counter to inquire why the sandwich was an issue, because I told him I had been told to leave. The grungy looking boy behind the counter yelled I was a liar (regarding her telling me to leave or police would be called). She then told my husband that she would call police on him, if we did not leave. We looked up the sandwich (veggie crisp) on your site, and it is toasted and comes with the ingredients noted above. He called her to verify that she was indeed in error, because he was not allowed to speak with her per threat of police being called. She told him that she had called the manager on us and she was not responsible for what happened. She claimed that she did not make the sandwich, but later said she knew the ingredients were all there??? She said we were at fault for not asking for the sandwich to be remade?? She took no responsibility and continued to be argumentative. She said her corporate manager said we never ordered that sandwich before, when I have had it twice - correctly made. My husband told her that she kept refusing to take responsibility. She then claimed she saw onions on it. He again noted to her the only ingredients put on the sandwich. He gave up speaking to her, because she showed no regard for people who had been regular customers. She even threw in that she had threatened to toss me out via police, because I argued with her about it being made incorrectly. It was clear customer service was not important to her, she wanted to argue (often contradicting herself), and she had never been trained in proper customer service procedures. I would say avoid the place at night, but she claims to work during the day too, though we had never seen any of the staff that were...

We got our order to go. For my husband, he ordered a pastrami on rye, and it came with chips and a pickle spear. For me, I got the Carolina with no tomato that came with chips and a pickle spear. He got a bottled Sprite, and I got a bottled Coke. I also asked for a salted caramel brownie, which was in a glass case by where you entered the line.

The order came out after we were sitting at a booth waiting for about eight to ten minutes. I used the bathroom during the wait, which required a code. I get it, you're trying to cut down on homeless people using the facilities, but this was ridiculous when I had to wait behind two people to get the code from the cashier and nearly had an accident. FYI, I'm homeless, too. I used your bathroom. If I had been embarrassed by having an accident due to my medical issues, I would have taken to every media and social media outlet I could have. Just because my husband and I didn't appear as disheveled as some, everyone deserves respect and consideration.

When we got our order, the brownie we ordered and paid for wasn't in the bag. The cashier said, "Oh, you didn't get it? I thought I saw a brownie on your table." How are you going to try to accuse people of trying to get something for free that they paid for? We couldn't have gotten to the brownie unless we were somehow able to reach through glass or if we went behind the counter. So much for "customer service." Don't argue with me when we didn't get the item at all. They had brookies and cookies on the counter, not the salted caramel brownie that I asked for and paid for.

While the sandwiches were okay, the lack of condiments on them made them lackluster. Condiments were on the tables but not offered in packets. Pickle spears were stale. My sandwich tasted very much like the same utensil used to spread peanut butter was used to spread the avocado spread or cut the sandwich. They also charge a 3% fee for using a card, and then they ask for a tip. We could have made better at home for over $40.

This experience was awful. We won't...

My husband and I were at Soda City and out of all the food trucks we passed, we decided to go sit down and spend our money with East Bay Deli. The menu had several options and I had questions. The guy at the register seemed disturbed, so we decided to sit down and look at the menu. I decided on a half soup, half sandwich. We placed our order, paid and waited 20 minutes for a half roast beef sandwich and broccoli cheddar soup for me/ hotdogs and fries for my husband. I asked for the roast beef to be hot, the bread sliver of roast beef that I received under the abundance of lettuce had no flavor, no mayo or mustard and was cold after a 20 minute wait. The broccoli cheddar soup was amazing and was the only highlight of the experience. After sitting and eating for 15 minutes, I asked one of the employees (who told me that I had to build my own sandwich for the half deal) if I could have the code to use the bathroom. She told me I had to make a purchase first. I advised her that I had been in her line about 30 or more minutes ago, placed an order, paid and waited 20 minutes for the slack or then sat at a table in front of the register eating for the past 15 minutes. Now I don't usually play the race or discrimination card, but I really felt it at that moment. In the future, I will purchase food from one of the trucks and eat in the cold before I spend another dime at East Bay Deli...UPDATE, EasyBay Deli replied to my review and. told me to reach out to them by email, I did 2 weeks ago and haven't heard a word back. I guess they wanted to appear to care to the public...@eastbaydeli... I sent an email to the address you provided on 02/01/24, as of today 02/18/24 I have received no response. I guess I'll update this review every 2 weeks until I get one since this is where you...
