Food and Wine magazine has called this the best Japanese bakery in the United States. I would call it simply the best bakery I know of in Ohio for cream puffs (sorry Schmidt's,) fruit tarts, strawberry cake, and Japanese style bread. Those are the items I have personally tried. They are flawlessly executed.
Their cream puff is consistently the best cream puff I have ever eaten. Their puff pastry is tender, so perfectly flaky, and so evenly distributed. Its flavor and texture are the perfect vehicle for the rich but magically fluffy egg custard vanilla cream filling, which fills every space within the pastry to 1/4" of its side. You could measure it with a micrometer. Nothing in this work of perfection is artificial. This is the textbook cream puff, elevated in its perfection by texture and flavor, a harmonious, delightfully balanced pastry.
Their strawberry cake is a confectionery dream, a symphony of cream and sponge, ripe fresh berries, sugar, and vanilla, cut to surgical precision and lovingly presented as art in their display cases.
Their fruit tarts are as beautiful as gems, with a rainbow of perfect fruit on top of a layer of vanilla cream, ensconced in an almond crust, and covered with a glistening apricot gel.
I can only assume the tiramisu, the panna cotta, the baked cheesecake, the mango mousse, the matcha cream puff, and anything I may have omitted are just as amazing.
I'd add that everything I have tried has the right balance of sweetness. Nothing is too sweet. That's important in a proper dessert because sugar itself can overpower other flavors. The wizards at Belle Breads know how to balance sweetness in a dessert to accentuate the flavors of the other components of the dessert. I don't feel like I need to rinse my mouth out after I eat one of their amazing treats.
I am so happy Belle's Breads is within driving distance of me. Oh, individual servings are also amazingly affordable, ranging from $2.95 for flán, to $5.95 for their most expensive single servings. If you're anywhere near Kenny Center in Columbus and you love perfectly executed sweet treats, you really need to...
Read moreFound this place last minute as a highly rated bakery in Columbus. I decided to give it a try and take part in enjoying the deliciousness.
When I arrived it was around 1:30. It seemed like half the stock was out or low. Could sandwiches were basically empty a handful of the pastry trays were low. I assumed that was almost a good sign that meant sales were good which means pastries are good.
I decided to get a caramel almond roll as I love both caramel and almonds. When I got to where I was going I was excited to dive in and even took a great picture.
At first bite there was a strange taste. I took a few more to confirm and I was right it indeed had a weird taste. Something with the caramel moose had a very chemically/artificial taste to it. Very unenjoyable and ruined the entire cake. It fell like eating cleaning product moose. Idk if the mixing bowl the moose was made in didn’t get rinsed all the way or what but something not good happened.
As for service again the slowness or lack of restocking items was an issue. Someone bought me an iced coffee with light milk And it was fully loaded with milk which means a lack of attention to detail. Personally preference they have work to do before getting anywhere...

Belle's Bread offers a plethora of options, from an assortment of chilled pre-packaged beverages to many packaged fresh daily bakery treats such as danishes, buns, cookies, and breads.
As you move into the checkout line, you'll see a lengthy display case full of cakes, tarts, cream puffs, cheesecake and tirimisu, and more. The staff is very helpful and quick to assist and fulfill your order. Most cakes can be ordered whole or by the slice, but if you need a whole cake for a birthday or something, it is best to call ahead and reserve or special order one.
Then you'll notice the huge selection of made-to-order treats and drinks. You can order coffees, matcha lattes, and ice cream as well as many more ornate and complicated treats utilizing unique ingredients and combinations.
Next time you stop by Tensuke, Sushi TEN, Akai Hana, or the other shops in the area, do yourself a favor and also hit up Belle's Bread. Just don't blame me if you walk out having spent far too much money on all the treats you...
