I ate a delicious "early supper" yesterday [10-17-2022] at the Bob Evans restaurant at 900 Bethel Rd.
I had been in that neighborhood yesterday for other reasons so I decided to eat at that Bob Evans before returning home.
I have eaten at various Bob Evans restaurants occasionally "over the years" [most frequently when my family has gathered for a "birthday celebration" meal]; my meal yesterday may have been the first time ever when I have eaten -- alone -- at a Bob Evans restaurant.
My food choice for yesterday had been a Bob Evans Wildfire® Chicken Salad: "fresh greens topped with Homestyle fried or grilled chicken, corn, diced tomato, cheddar cheese, tortilla strips, and a drizzle of Bob Evans Wildfire® sauce." My salad had been served with Wildfire® ranch dressing and warm biscuits.
I consistently order a Wildfire® Chicken Salad whenever I eat at Bob Evans because that item is so delicious and is definitely my favorite item on their menu.
The service at Bob Evans had been friendly and helpful; the one odd thing about my visit that I want to report here is that I had not realized while eating my meal that "dine-in" customers are expected to pay for their meals at a service counter near the entrance [rather than the server collecting the payment at the table which is what usually happens at restaurants].
After having waited for several minutes at my table for my server to collect my payment, I decided to go to the service counter to ask if I should be paying there instead. I thereby learned that all customers -- both "dine in" and "carry out" -- are expected to pay at the service counter.
I had been planning to use a several-years-old Bob Evans "gift card" to pay for my meal but was told, while attempting to pay with that gift card, that that card had expired.
The staff member behind the counter told me that I would be able to request a replacement gift card by calling the Bob Evans Customer Service toll-free number; however, I learned, during a twenty-minute-long telephone call the following morning [that had included a lot of "wait time"], that that they would not be able to replace that gift card for reasons that are not completely clear to me.
If you are looking for high-quality old-fashioned food with a "country" flavor, I strongly recommend Bob Evans. But if you are planning to pay for your meal with a gift card, I recommend also having an alternative method for the payment...
Read moreI have never been so disrespected and made to feel like I was in a slavery movie, I walk in smiling and excited awaiting my favorite cup of Coffee when I was walked to a table 3 minutes after standing by the booth, only to be allowed to sit at a Table in the open and ignored by the server, I watched her seat 2 other tables and serve them. Never taking my order or assisting me with anything! By the third table who came after me i inquired with the manager if I did something wrong and he stated "no"and assisted me to my table, as I watched him as well rush to new customers after my arrival, serving them before I got my meal. I saw the server ignoring me until people were sat by my table as she assisted them ignored me but looking at me as she passed by me several times. My server brought me the wrong food and but she was a sweetheart I couldnt be angry with her, even tho I watched her try to assist her customer favorites. The food came it didnt look as appealing as menu. I just couldnt enjoy i took 2 bites afraid of what they may have done to it while cooking. I will never retun there I was late to my next appointment waiting for the food to arrive. With tears in my eyes I asked for my check as all staff repeatedly glanced at me from time to time like they were enjoying my pain! I am a family of 10 I will never return there or allow my family to visit that location. I've never been so disrespected we have adopted Bob Evans as our second home kitchen. Now I feel lost in emotions. I never yelled ,got loud or exposed her outloud to save my hurt feelings. I am so proud of the Growth God has granted me. Read moreWent in this morning for Restaurant Week and was severely disappointed. It took an hour to get any food. The food they sent out was wrong and some severely undercooked. We also never received 5 items we ordered and just got excuses. Other tables got their food right away and we're checked on constantly. I go to other Bob Evans weekly and have never had any of this happen. I know it was busy. But could not have been that bad if everyone was treated much better than us. I was just trying to treat my husband to a nice date at one of my favorite places and now he won't go back. When asked to speak to the general manager (even though. My husband insisted we just leave) the general manager didn't even seem surprised. Did not seem apologetic.
The waitress just seemed to want us out of there as soon as our food came. Offering to box us up. We were on our phones and talking to each other. Were nice and not making anything hard on anyone. Just wanted what we ordered. Our waitress told us our dessert would be right out and I asked my husband to wait until it came. 15 minutes later no food and we decided we were done trying and found the GM.
Disappointed and will never visit this location again. Fix your staff and be nicer to...
