Went in last night a little after 7. The parking lot was full so I assumed there was a wait which was told to be about 20 minutes. The hostess took down my name and PHONE NUMBER to call once there was a table for 5 available. The waiting area full so my family and I waited outside. We never received a call. After the quoted 20-25minutes we went inside to see the dining room/waiting area had cleared significantly. We then changed our party to 4 and we were sat, time is now 7:45.
We looked at the menu for about 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged by our “server.” She said she’d be with us shortly. We could see her taking care of the table in front of us, no problem. 5 minutes later she took our drink order. No “any appetizers, are yall ready to order” nothing. She then went back to the table in front of us TWICE with only a bag and the check in her hand. I guess multitasking isn’t a thing there. She disappeared and we never got drinks. We never ordered. It was getting later and we decided we could’ve gotten drinks, apps and entress at Mi Haciencda twice already. So that’s where we went. As we left, I could see and hear the other servers laughing and hanging out in the back. Is there no teamwork? Is there no communication? There isn’t a sense of urgency. Not once did I see a manager.
As a manager of a restaurant, I know service and I know how to train a great service staff because it starts at the top for sure. If you’re coaching your staff and your present when things like this happen, you can recover guests and gain loyalty. If you let your servers decide what and when they’re going to do things they will run your establishment into the ground. That’s what’s happened here. The only thing saving them is that they are the only seafood restaurant in Columbus....
Read moreOvercooked crab and bad crawfish. That pretty much summarizes my experience.
I had been hearing about how good this place was for a while before I finally decided to try it myself. To say I was disappointed is an understatement.
My group ordered the seafood nachos and crab cakes as appetizers. The crab cakes tasted like any frozen store-bought crab cake. It was okay. I wouldn't order it again.
We had crawfish on the nachos. The cheese sauce was pretty good, but the crawfish itself was somewhat fishy tasting and left a distinct aftertaste. I wouldn't recommend it at all. I was stuck with that taste through much of my meal.
I ordered a half-pound of snow crab legs and cajun fries for my main dish. I know smow crab is really the bottom rung for crab, but it usually has some flavor when cooked properly.
The legs were rubbery--clearly overcooked. They were difficult to crack because of this, leaving the meat all crushed up. The meat was flavorless. It tasted like slightly salty water and that was it. Not a hint of sweetness or normal crab flavor. If I had to guess, it had been frozen for quite a while before this disaster of a serving was made
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone....
Read moreFirst time in Columbus and first time at this establishment. The ambiance was fast casual like a slightly nicer fast food place. That’s not a bad thing. I never read any reviews ahead of visiting and did not know what to expect. I was a little skeptical when I first walked in. When I looked at the menu, I expected smaller portions based on the prices. We ordered three items and an appetizer so we could sample a little bit of everything. What we got were three HUGE portions and a large appetizer. I knew we had messed up and ordered way too much. We both ate until we were stuffed and had at least two more meals to take home. We ordered fried pickles, crawfish fried rice, garlic shrimp pasta & a catfish basket that came with onion rings. It was a carb fest for sure, LOL, but everything was delicious. Surprisingly, my favorite was the fried rice with house voodoo sauce. Spicy! So, three entrees, an appetizer and four domestic beers and the tab was right at $60. Remember we have probably two more meals from the leftovers. I’ll definitely make the hour and a half trip back here. Not related to the meal, but I love the tagline of “Come at me breaux!” I’ll probably order a...
