UPDATE BELOW AT END...
After such a great review a month ago on Yelp it's very sad to have to report that my fiance and friends and family will not be visiting Motzarts again anytime soon. Since I began coming to Motzarts on a regular basis (1-2 times a month) and spending quite a lot on food and deserts in addition also inviting friends and out of town family to come experience Motzarts...this has now come to an end for now. My friends, family, my fiancé and I know this restaurant is a more high level establishment, however, as my fiancé and I were eating dinner with our two friends (first time visitors of Motzarts) we were enjoying each others company and fellowship and we were laughing at stories shared and having a great time... then the owner came out and put his hand on my fiancé s shoulder and addressed the table and said we all needed to be quiet or we would need to leave. We all were taken back by this. We were not being obnoxious or any louder than on previous visits and yet the owner came out to tell us to be quiet. That does not hit as hard to me as the owner laying his hand on my fiancé s shoulder. You do not touch a customer. You do not touch anyone without their permission. What we hope is what probably happened was a "stuffed shirt guest" who thinks they are more privelaged than others in the world complained, which was odd because the table next to us had two small children being louder than anyone else in the restaurant. However, the approach and way the owner of Motzarts handled it was very poor. Aside from us not being able to talk normally while eating now...he touched a guest. No on that. My warning to future guests...make sure you whisper to your table mates and also be prepared for someone to come and lay their hands on you unwelcomed.
So sad, but until I receive an apology, and moreso my fiancé...we will take our business, money and appetite to another establishment.
UPDATE 2/19: I do notice the apology from the owner and thank you for that, however, apologizing for an inconvenience is different than apologizing for your actions. Our close friend (who also reported a review based on the initial restaurant visit) has indicated that the owner has been reaching out to her via social media (facebook), he did apologize, however, he demanded she take down her review. Our friend did edit the review to reflect the apology, however, the review remained because the facts had not changed. Our friend wanted to make sure that future patrons were aware as a courtesy to them. Plus it is my friends right under 1st amendment of the US constitution. This apparently escalated to the owner reaching out to our friend via social media again asking our friend to call him directly. When does the line of social media stalking kick into gear? I am also a business owner and as a business owner, you take positive and negative reviews, however, you do not harass a reviewer because you don't like what they posted especially when the post is...
Read moreWent with my dad & wife because my dad wanted to try it. A much better experience than several years ago, shortly after they opened–the last time we visited(& we live just across the street). Service on our recent visit was great, and so was the food – it was a Thursday night, but pretty busy and we had no fewer than 4 people attending to our table. Anand, the owner, also checked up on us. Our drink orders were taken promptly, and when we weren’t ready to order yet, they got back to us as soon as we placed our menus down. Also, when we were done and ready for our check, our waitress was tied up with a large table that showed up without reservations, but another person came over to see if we were done and took care of the check for her.
The food was really good. We shared the smoked salmon plate and the baked swiss for appetizers. The smoked salmon plate was amazing, and the baked swiss was very, very good. My dad and I both had the wiener schnitzel and my wife had the vegetable spätzle. The veggie spätzle was great, and the schnitzel was done really well – tender and fried to a light, fluffy, just slightly crisp finish, just the way it is supposed to be done. Other reviews complained that theirs was hard, dry, and overdone – this was my experience on my previous visits, but this time it was done perfectly. Schnitzel is not easy to get just right, and is a big disappointment when overcooked, so hopefully our experience is a trend going forward. The only thing I would change is adding 1 or 2 lemon wedges – I and many schnitzel fans like to eat it with just lemon juice squeezed over the top. The sliced and twisted lemon garnish, while it looked nice, made this impossible. Unfortunately, no room for dessert, but they looked amazing – need to go back soon just for that.
The ambience was great initially, and the live piano music was very nice. Unfortunately, when the piano player took a break, a group of brass instrument players (a trumpet and tuba it sounded like) started warming up in the back room – hitting and then trying to correct bad notes and playing scales. I think they must have had some event back there they were getting ready for. Anyway it was really loud and annoying – would be good if they could close off that area from the main dining room.
All in all, a very good dining experience (except for the back room brass), and it won’t take me several years to return – as long as I can rely on good service and good food, prepared properly, I will keep...
Read moreCame from 1.5 hours away the day before my birthday. Almost nothing is open on my Christmas birthday, so I came today for a special breakfast. Overall the experience could be described as both tense and stale. I'm depressed I wasted traveling my one day off during the holiday season for this.
The manager had everyone including me on edge. I double mask every public place I go, but when I parked right as they opened he asked aloud across the parking lot if I had a mask the moment I had just stepped out of my car. The entire time I spent there he rushed around berating all of his employees, lacking any situational awareness of the customer sitting right up front. It was impossible to ignore. I tried to read my book like I normally do when I go places, but had to give up. Berating your employees in front of patrons is so unprofessional.
I had to rubberneck for half an hour before finally just calling out for my first and only refill on coffee. My waitress was a zombie -- didn't engage at all beyond just taking my order and dropping off the check. I originally wanted to leave her a bigger tip for the way her manager was handling everyone, but she genuinely made me feel like I was just a walking pocketbook. When I got up once to go use the restroom, another employee who had not been serving me and had no business asked if I wanted my check. I felt rushed.
As for the food, the slice of quiche was almost as big as my face. This might sound great to some people, but I find that in most places you either get a little of a great thing or a lot of a mediocre one. It ended up tasting like it was days old and just warmed over in a microwave. The coffee was lukewarm, so it's probably best that I only managed to get two servings. I originally planned to stay for a special birthday dessert, but decided I couldn't stand being there anymore. 15 minutes after leaving my stomach hurt -- hopefully more from the disappointment than the food. I've been there before years ago and had good experiences, but will definitely not...
