I’ve been coming here for years but lately the service has been terrible. I ordered 20 whole wings- fried hard - I received 20 grilled wing dings with a 4 dollar 50 cent up charge and the wings were grilled not cooked at all how I asked some weren’t even cooked fully through , so I politely showed the employee she grabbed her manager- he immediately was upset- with me- like I cooked the wings.I explained to the manager that I am a regular there, huge fan of the food and I just simply wanted 20 whole wings fried hard. He was furious- he said they didn’t fry wings- so I grabbed the menu to show him what the menu said they offer as well as reminded him that I frequent the place often did they take it off the menu? He said they have always grilled them- snatched my food back. And said one moment mam. At that point I didn’t even want the wings because everything was off and his response to me sending them back was very disrespectful. He Took the food back to the kitchen where it’s very visible to customers to see what they are doing- they have an open kitchen. he took the wings out of the box and grilled them longer. He put the same grilled wing dings back in the same box. By the time I received the wings the box was smoking and there were black finger prints on top of the box. Extremely rude extremely unprofessional. I then told him I didn’t want the wings because again it’s not what I ordered at all - it’s not what was advertised at all and I saw what was done in the kitchen. He laughed at me. I asked for a refund he declined.the wings sat on the counter and I left. my advice would be to never spend your money here until the manager is replaced . Not only did I not receive what I ordered from the menu- I was up charged 4 dollars and 50 cent. The whole wings weren’t whole any longer they were snapped in half so you were now receiving 5 whole wings turned into ten wing dings with an up charge. Cheeky business if you ask me. Therefore the menu needs to be changed and or customers need to be made aware that the item is no longer offered and the wing dings are 4.50 more. If a customer requests something and it’s not done right just...
Read moreI wanted so much to like this place more, but just couldn't.
I visited to place a takeout order. The restaurant parking lot is a little tricky to get into because you need to be going south on Sawmill or west on Bethel, but that wasn't an issue for me. Once inside it is quite nice and inviting. There were tasteful holiday decorations, a TV, and modern touches in the decor.
The lady who took our order was polite, and thorough in making sure she had my order correct. We spent a few minutes waiting for our food to be prepared. There were a handful of other people in the restaurant, not surprising for a weekday evening.
The food didn't take long to come out, and I was on my way home.
The food looked good as we started to eat. We had two gyros, fries, hummus, and noodles with cheese for our daughter. The gyros were HUGE, and could actually be smaller for the same price. Actually, all of the portions were oversized. This is good in some ways, but felt wasteful since we couldn't possibly eat it all.
The quality wasn't quite so generous. The noodles were fine, well cooked, and simple with just some parmisan sprinkled on them. The fries were hot, but seemed stale. Unfortunate because they're the good crispy kind. I can't soak for the regular gyro, but I had the spicy chicken gyro, and it was slightly overloaded with feta, perhaps my fault because I'm not a huge fan, and the chicken was clearly precooked, and reheated on a flat top grill-it was dry and tough. Steam and sauce on the flat top would help the reheating process.
I may give this another try because some slightly better food prep would make a world...
Read moreI ate yesterday [5-9-2019] at Panini Opa after having ridden past there many times, over the years, on my way to Trader Joe's and other destinations further north.
This location had previously been a Rally's hamburger restaurant and has been nicely modified to include Greek and Italian decorations.
One orders at the counter and then they bring the food to your table. The menu [both on-line and behind the ordering counter] had been in extremely small type and had been rather difficult to read.
I ordered the Italian Panini [pepperoni, salami, ham, prosciutto, onions, banana peppers, provolone, and Italian dressing, "served on sour ciabata bread, pressed"]. This sandwich had been absolutely delicious but had been difficult to eat without many small pieces falling onto my plate because everything between the two pieces of bread had been cut into ½-inch squares.
I learned, several hours after I had left Panini Opa and had looked at the menu again on-line, that that sandwich had included a choice of fries or lemon potatoes.
I remember declining an offer of fries while ordering my sandwich but had assumed [without being able to read the menu behind the counter at that moment] that the fries would be for an additional charge.
But even without the fries or lemon potatoes, the Italian Panini, all by itself, had been the size of "two whole sandwiches" [as I remember them from my childhood] and had been plenty to eat, and, as I have already said,...
