Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Columbus

I was on a cross country trip and we don't have Sonics where we live so we had been taking the opportunity to stop frequently when we saw them. We quickly discovered that there seemed to be a pervasive training problem with one of their items... the Sonic Blast. It's a cup of soft serve with broken up cookies, candies, or candy bars mixed throughout. We order an extra serving of the broken up topping so it is just loaded up. Or that is the intent.. The issue is two-fold... they never double the serving of goodies but we are charged, and the candies are never mixed in. They are served 90% sitting on top and the rest pushed down a few inches from where the mixer is inserted. Definitely not as advertised and it happened in 5 different states.

By the time we tried again in Columbus, GA, I learned enough to park and check the product before leaving. Sure enough... same issue. I promptly grabbed the cup and left my car, proceeding to what appeared to be a side door where two women were talking.

As I approached one of the ladies, Tawana, asked me kindly can I help you sir? I told her that I'm afraid she is going to be incurring my full wrath after dealing with this same issue 5 other times elsewhere. She said again very disarmingly, ok sir what seems to be the problem? I showed her the cup and receipt and explained what had been consistently happening and it was just becoming ridiculous that this kept happening. She looked and said you are absolutely right. We are going to fix this right now. You don't go anywhere. She came back shortly with an oversized new cup... filled with mixed cookie dough from top to bottom. It looked just like the commercial. She credited my card for our entire order as well as provided gift cards for future purchases. I was blown away. I told her I was so impressed with her that I think she should be training people across the country how to create the Sonic products. She said she loves her work and her store and wanted to be sure we would be coming back to Sonic... I told her she did a beautiful job of 'saving the account' and I couldn't be happier. I asked her if I could mention her name online and she consented. Next time I am in Columbus, Tawana will get my business. I have NEVER seen someone in fast food care that much... taking such responsibility and fixing the problem so handily. Very impressed! One star knocked off because I did have to delay my travel to address...

It's not always easy to find a place where you can comfortably park an RV or a larger truck, but Sonic had ample space, making it convenient for families or groups traveling in such vehicles.

Cup Cleanliness (★★★☆☆): Unfortunately, I did notice a minor drawback during my visit. The cup containing the milkshake had a somewhat grimy feeling on the outside. While this didn't affect the taste of the shake itself, it did make the overall experience feel a bit less clean and hygienic. It's a small detail that I hope Sonic can pay more attention to in the future.

In conclusion, my visit to Sonic Drive-In was a pleasant experience. The Banana Milkshake was the standout star, offering a delightful blend of creaminess and natural banana flavor. I pulled up and parked figured out an order then push the red button, took about 5 minutes for anybody to say we'll be right with you. 10 minutes later I was still sitting there waiting for somebody to answer the intercom. I didn't push the button again nobody answered the button it just turned it off so it was not blinking. But I still waited for a couple more minutes. Then I decided to drive to the drive-thru I had to say hello twice before anybody answered me. When they answered me I said give me just a minute please. 5 minutes later I say hello again and she says give me just a minute please. I explained it already then 4 minutes. About 5 minutes later the car hop blaze me up to where she was standing she takes my order and then a few minutes later she comes back and tells me how much it is so I give her more than what you were supposed to be it was like $9 in change and I gave her $10 bill. She comes back some brings our drinks. I had to ask her for my change. Is she giving me better service and would have not worried about the change. And I did not feel like she deserved it after us having to wait for so long just to be able to order drinks. We arrived at the parking spot at 4:45, by the time she took our order it was after the 2 to 5:00 1/2 price drink special had ended so we ended up having to pay full price for them. I got myself a cherry limeade. There was no lime and there was no cherry in my drink. Don't know what she did to my granddaughter's drink but my granddaughter got sick after drinking it. This particular Sonic is horrible on customer service I do not recommend anybody go to this...
