Our waitress, Mel, was quirky, really nice and present, and she is the only reason this place gets an extra star. For starters, the seats were very uncomfortable. They're diner booths, and and you can really feel the springs when you sit. I ordered the buffalo wing dings and fries and my boyfriend had a chicken sandwich and green beans. The food came out quickly. The chicken sandwich "sucked". It was so greasy and slimey that the bottom bun disintegrated in your hands when you picked it up. The chicken sandwich itself was lukewarm, and tasted like it grew up around burgers, so it thought it wanted to be a burger. The green beans tasted like someone opened a can of green beans and microwaved them in the juice of the can and served them to us. No seasonings. No flavor. The buffalo wing dings I had tasted like those precooked frozen wings you get at the grocery store that you can either microwave or bake -- they tasted microwaved and rubbery and slimey, but I could eat them. The fries! The fries were actually pretty tasty. We complained about the chicken sandwich, and Mel called a man, Mike, over. I'm guessing he was the manager. He was rude/curt in his response to Mel calling him over, and when we told him we didn't like the burger he just looked at us like we were morphing into mutant animals in front of him. He didnt apologize to us at all, and sort of made us feel like we needed to apologize for not liking the sandwich. We ended up getting some boneless barbecue wings to replace the sandwich. Those were just okay. All in all, a very meh experience....

The STAFF IS THE REASON YOU WANT TO VISIT...THE STAFF MAKES THE MEAL, MAKES IT WORTH THE VISIT.
The daily, non-breakfast, menu items are good. They are varied and definitely foods that are comfort-style. You might be associated with this cooking if you're familiar with southern or Appalachian styles.
Breakfast gets rave reviews over the large plates of eggs, country gravy, biscuits and potatoes.
Each individual store has its unique culture.
All are 24 hours and bar crowds are there....They treat their bar crowds with utmost respect.
They are not open 24 Sunday nights.
Prices are extremely low-cost for what you are being served.
I believe that THE STAFF ON THE FLOOR is reason to go.
The STAFF earns nothing so i love supporting then with gratuities.
MY BIAS: I sincerely believe that this 'family-owned' corporate entity does not respect staff. I believe that corporate should do more for staff. How can I say this? I have a few times been eating in The Parsons Avenue store and witnessed inappropriate and disrespectful treatment by corporate....I'm withholding names and descriptions of corporate.
The West Broad Street store is my least enjoyable but it seems that it has been upgraded.

Read moreWorst service EVER! The "waitresses" all stood around chatting while we (and another couple) waited 1/2 hour for our carry out food while we watched it sit there (lids open!) while the "waitress" flirted with a dirty old man. Food was tepid so we ate it in the parking lot while said "dirty old man" proceeded to walk up to our truck and say (and I quote) "I'm a homeless veteran, can you spare some money so I can eat?" We WATCHED HIM EAT while he flirted with said waitress. He had her grab stuff from the bottom shelf over and over so he could get his kicks. His pants were fresh laundered and pressed and they were NOT cheap and he was smoking a name brand cigarette in his "homeless" hands. This place is DISGUSTING, slower than molasses running uphill in January and the service downright SUCKS! Never again. Classless slobs. One star is generous, believe that. To top it off, a friend of mine got bed bugs from this place. We have called the Board of Health, too bad there is no Board of Morals to teach these "waitresses" how to...
