I have always loved visiting a good public library. The smells, the comfy seating, the soft feeling of often read pages, the sounds (or lack thereof!). I visited the library in my hometown at least once a week for as long as I was there. I recently moved to the area and was excited to peruse a new stack of shelves. I came in to do my typical first visit meditation. I grabbed the first book I saw and made my way to find a place to sit and read a few pages and get the true ambiance of the realm. The chair I chose was the best I could see, but it was still a dingy, meager blue thing. Not very comfy or inviting in my honest opinion. But a library is not just its chairs. It is a land of books! I cracked open the book and gave it a sniff. I began to read a few pages when BAM! Tragedy struck!!! I began a-itching. I looked closer and what did I see but an insect! Not just any insect but a BEDBUG. I immediately put on my coat, shoved the book back on the shelf, and scampered out of there like a bat out of you-know-what!! I assessed the damage when I exited the building and I saw yet another one of those scoundrels on my precious coat! I will not be returning until this nasty insect issue is squashed! (New furniture wouldn’t hurt either but its lower on my list...
Read moreThe building was built so cheaply and badly. You can hear all outside noises etc. It feels like being on a trailer home instead of a library. I really feel like CML decided to remodel, and someone pocketed some money cause the construction of all the new libraries is completely trash.
It's still a bad library branch. It feels like being in a trailer. Staff is fantastic and very accommodating. I still want an investigation into the pocket lining that happened when they decided to renovate the branches and turn them into cheap metal trailers.
04/28/2023- Google asked me to update my review , so I'll add that this location is still sketchy to go to. It still feels like being in a trailer. Recently, it has smelled of urine & body odor. Needs more space for the Southside population + regular deep cleanings. Librarians at this location are great, though. It's not their fault they have to deal with what they've got to deal with.
July 12th, 2023 - Still a horrid horrible location. The building creaks and makes loud noises that disturb library patrons. SOMEONE PLEASE INVESTIGATE THE MONEY LAUNDERING THAT LINED SOMEONES FAMILIES POCKETS, THIS WAS BUILT SOOO CHEAP. TAXPAYERS...
Read moreThe Parsons Branch Library [that had opened 6-4-2016] is far larger than the previous branch [that had been at a different location]; this new location is a completely new building.
I had been there earlier today [2-16-2019] for a meeting; this library had been filled with people [mostly children but actually people of all ages]; nearly all of the public computers had been in use and most of the other space at this library had been in use.
The staff at the Parsons Branch Library is friendly and helpful; even the guard who had been walking around the building checking everything every few minutes [most guards usually sit in the same location all of the time] had been smiling while she had been...
