I ate a delicious meal recently [5-1-2022] at Tee Jaye's Country Place at their new location at 4560 N. High St.
I had eaten several times at their former location [in the former "Jerry's Drive In" building, with the iconic sign, at 4910 N. High St.] but had not been able to return there for a "final visit" before their move to their new location.
Tee Jaye's Country Place fits nicely into their new space, a recently-constructed building, with large garage doors facing N. High St., that had previously housed a hamburger restaurant that has since moved to the "Short North" neighborhood of Columbus.
I arrived at Tee Jaye's Country Place about an hour before a concert that I had been planning to attend [the Columbus Women's Chorus at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, half a block to the west] had been scheduled to begin.
I was escorted to my seat, briefly studied the menu [in spite of the fact that I had already studied that menu "on line" in advance of my visit] and ordered my food.
My food choice had been Southern Fried Steak Dinner, Mashed Potatoes with Gravy, Fiesta Corn, and Biscuits.
As soon as I had ordered my food, I left my seat and walked around the restaurant so that I would be able to take some photographs for Google Maps.
I have learned that "photo opportunities" at restaurants will come and go -- depending on where customers happen to be seated [and/or not seated] at the time -- so I decided that I would begin taking photographs as soon as I had ordered my food.
My meal arrived in less than five minutes [well before I had finished taking photographs] so I returned to my seat and started to eat my meal. I later took additional photographs.
My meal had been delicious and quite filling; the service had been friendly; the several customers who had been there while I had been there seemed to be enjoying their time together in that space.
If you are looking for some delicious "country" food while you are in north Clintonville or in Beechwold, I strongly recommend Tee Jaye's Country Place at their...
Read more2 stars because we have been there a few times with decent service. Most of the time, the wait for food is long, it's served luke warm or cold and things are forgotten. We have had a couple of great waitresses that were friendly and made the experience pleasant. Today , however there was barely any wait to get in. A party of 5 and a party of 2 ahead of us. They were working on seating the party of 5 and cleaning the table. A blond waitress came over after about 10 minutes and asked how many in our party, I said 5. She immediately sighed and rolled her eyes. I thought. I guess she doesn't like the fact we have 5. This same waitress was outside smoking in the parking lot as we left. Then another party on 5 came in, 1 person being a toddler. The manager came over asked them and then us how many. He looked around then said come with me. I thought he meant my party who had been there 10-15 minutes before the other party. He said no, them! Then turned around and told me it was really difficult to accommodate parties more than 4 at this restaurant. When he came back I asked why he had said that, especially after seating 2 tables of more than 4. I told him we have been there before and it was kind of rude for him to say we were difficult to accommodate, especially after he accommodated 2 tables of 5, 1 who was in line after us. I simply said we would not be back Yes, I agree with a previous poster that staff needs to work on professionalism i.e. smoking in parking lot, eye rolling and...
Read moreMom and I went around Noonish on a Tues. The restaurant is located in a corner building with a great view of High St. It is on the ground floor of a residential apartment building. The parking lot in the back is shared with the residential tenants. Spaces for the tenants are clearly marked as dedicated. The place wasn't busy. Very clean and well lite. Food was great. Welcome upon entering was nice. I just wish it extended to the table service. I am very big on service. My Mom was in service and I've been in service so we do understand. Our server was fast, efficient, and accurate with our order. My issue was the vibe she gave off and the lack of follow through with our table. The vibe was I don't want to serve you. For example there are packets of sugar and other various sweeteners on the table, but only 1 sugar packet. I ordered coffee, cream and sugar, thinking I will need more than 1 packet for my coffee and warm ups. When she brought my coffee she tossed the creamer in the table and told me sugar was on the table and looked at the 1 packet then walked away. She watches me get my own sugar from an empty table with no comment. Not that I ended up needing it because no coffee warm ups, no do you need anything, our food placed on the table and she just walked away. I could excuse this as a bad day, but we watched her attention to her other table. We will not be going back. It's a shame because we have been going to tee jays...
