I had some testing at osu carepoint east and had over an hour in between the tests and an employee recommended this place. The parking lot looked pretty full, so we thought it was a good sign. We were wrong. As soon as we walked in, we saw a cut out in the wall to the left. There was a woman standing there. She noticed that we came in, but she didn't seem to care. We stood there for about a minute and she didn't speak to us, so I asked if we should seat ourselves. She very rudely answered back "no", grabbed two menus and asked if a high top table would be fine. My husband told her no. This seemed to agitate her more. We have a valid reason for needing a lower level table. I'm disabled, though my disabilities are invisible. She walked over to a 2 seat booth, slid the menus on the table and walked away.
Our server came over. He asked what drinks we wanted before we even got a chance to open the menu to find the drinks, so he had to name off everything, once I realized they don't offer sweet tea. I then started looking through the menu, as did my husband. He wanted to take our order as he brought back our drinks. I told him I wasn't ready yet. No joke, he came back and asked again no more than 2 minutes later, as I was still very obviously reading through the menu. At this point, I felt pretty uncomfortable and told him I was "slow at picking out my food". I very quickly picked something as he showed up and asked again about 2 minutes later.
I got the turkey blt with steak fries that was a lunch special for $7.99. My husband had picked something out, but there was some confusion, so he randomly chose something else and chose the cheese steak sandwich with chicken tortilla soup. Our server snapped that there was an "upcharge" for the soup. Little did we know, the sandwich and a cup of soup was $15.99. I just looked at the menu again, to be sure I wasn't seeing things. It's listed as a bowl, but it's definitely a tea cup. To top things off, the actually ingredients of the soup were laying in the bottom of the cup and scarce, like the pot hadn't been stirred.
Let's get to the HUGE issue. My sandwich didn't taste right. I chalked it up to it being my taste buds. The turkey wasn't the usual turkey. It looked like thanksgiving turkey, but almost shaped like a patty. The server didn't bring mayo out with it and then asked if I wanted it, so I said sure. I used it and I noticed that he walked by a few minutes later and looked to see if I used it. It could be a coincidence. That's the first thing that I hadn't eaten that day and I was hungry. It was going on noon. Well, I ended up being VIOLENTLY ILL. I'm one of those strange people that doesn't vomit, but this food caused me to. This was on Tuesday. It's now Friday and I'm still having stomach...
Read moreI certainly can not say that I appreciate going out to eat a meal with a family member and being treated so disrespectfully. Furthermore, I do not understand why the members of your staff did not understand what unlimited portion of fish and chip meant. In which it seemed, as though the entire establishment was there eating, but when we asked for a second portion of the unlimited "fish and chip", we both received one piece of fish. What is the point if you are only gonna get one piece to advertise unlimited? Here is a fun fact: Two little short Mexican females told us that "we could not have chips , or a box if we could not finish eating our food within the restaurant." The food was good, but with the lack of customer service , I won't return. We waited for over 20 minutes for them to come back and take our payments. Then when we got up to pay at the counter, then one of the servers had the audacity to ask us "if we were waiting for someone?" I then replied, "yes, I am waiting for someone to take my payment, it's been over 20 mins and I kind of have to go," were my exact words! When the disrespectful, below table level Mexican waitresses ganged up on us, we then started to offer them a stepping stool from our car so they could look at us at eye level because we thought it was so hilarious for them to try to bully us when they are so short like a Chihuahua! Our compliments to the Chef for what little fish we were allowed to have! When we left, we went to McDonald's for a fillet of fish and fries. We felt that we were starving like a third world nation. P.S. That is without the alcohol. Too many drunks were so loud and obnoxious in the restaurant that served beer that we barely could hear ourselves communicate with each other. The bartenders need to understand when customers have had "one too many to drink." Too many alcoholics filled the restaurant. Have people ever heard of obtaining...
Read moreHavent been to The Old Bag Of Nails in a long time and will not be back.
For as much as restaurants are struggling right now our $100 dinner was to provide income for the servers to be able to take care of their family. We occasionally eat at home but after this pandemic we have went out more to show servers that we still apprciate going out and do not like to have food delivered. we believe it is hurting our community in having social interaction with anybody in the hospitality industry.
Place closes at 10pm we walk in at 9:20pm. A lady was behind the bar didnt even said hello, she just looked at us and said we already had last call. We said we were just going to get some food. Her response was that they already closed for the night. If your sign on your door says your open until 10pm, that does not mean the cooks are out by 10pm. I have served in my past and you serve and take care of your guest until closing time. I am very dissapointed that The Old Bag Of Nails will not be getting our service anymore. I hope that corporate teaches their general managers and disctrict managers how to properly construct a restaurant in order to keep their livelyhood and be still considered a great restaurant to eat at before its another restaurant that is forgotten about like an olive garden. There are so many restaurants in the city of columbus and business is too competitive to be declining business 40 minutes before closing time so that you can go home sooner. The president of the coperation is wondering why guest are not choosing The Old Bag Of Nails over other Restaurants. I guess if what i have said already has not made an impression on the restaurants name then i wish the...
