9/28/24 update: I went to the rail house bar to watch the OSU football game and to get a drink. I was sitting at the bar for 15 minutes and no bartender asked me if I needed anything. There were 3 female bartenders working and they just walked by me and ignored me. I had to get one of the bartenders attention to get a drink. People next to me and people walking up to the bar got immediate service. I was at the bar for over 45 minutes and was only able to get one drink.I took a video this time since it has happened several times before. I plan to post it on social media so others can see. The only female bartender that greets and serves me is the redhead bartender. The owner needs to know how patrons are treated and address any issues. Not sure if I will return.
8/25/24 update: I went to the bar around 3pm today to get a drink. Two female bartenders were working. A redhead and a blondish kinda chubby girl. The redhead is an awesome bartender. She is very attentive and polite. The blondish girl was on the side of the bar where I sat. She ignored me the entire hour that I was there. She waited on other people around me and washed glasses. The redhead noticed I wasn't served and came to my side of the bar to get me something to drink. The couple sitting next to me couldn't believe it and suggested I leave which I did.
OLD REVIEW below: I love this bar. It has lots of TVs and plenty of tables and seats. The patio is very nice. Bartenders are friendly and serve great drinks. More people should check...
Read moreThis place needs some serious lessons in class & professionalism.
The pro? The space is beautifully restored.
The Cons? One, Wycliff California sparkling wine IS NOT champagne nor is it okay that it’s 10 bucks a glass. Please educate your staff on wine and alcohol if you want to be a “classy” establishment. Also no specialty liqueurs or bitters, everything is very basic B.
Two, having multiple bartenders and yet, ignoring guests for long periods of time seems to be pretty consistent on multiple trips here. Living in the neighborhood and really expected more but the longer they’ve been open the worse it seems to get.
For a place that’s trying to be shishi, I would expect a better trained staff and also not watching them climb on chairs in front of guests to inventory (OSHA regulations? Are you not making enough money to buy your staff a proper step ladder? I really don’t want to see someone bust their head open while I’m trying to relax). I’ll spare the video I took of this happening because it’s just embarrassing.
Three, the music needs to be addressed. It’s like someone’s gym time “get pumped” Spotify play list… and not in a “fun” inducing way. It’s just an echoey bad dance hall vibe. AT LEAST throw on some kind of curated flow that doesn’t feel like someone forgot their ADHD meds.
I love this space, but this isn’t supposed to be a campus bar or even Standard or Food Hall. Let’s raise the bar a...
Read moreStopped by on Saturday in hopes of a new place to enjoy some drinks with friends. Did not realize instead of the 6 of us we would be joined by a few of the locals in the bar!
First, we should have thought twice about staying as the bar table tops were not clean and had become sticky from what we hoped were spilled drinks but you never know, looking back.
We ordered our drinks, which I must say took over 30 minutes to get even though this place was not busy! After finally getting our drinks and trying to relax with our friends a few of the locals decided to join us! Three cockroaches!!!!
My boyfriend was the first to meet these uninvited guests to our table when he felt something on this hand! We asked the bartenders to come over and well two more were crawling on the floor!!
When we showed the bartenders the response was “management knows but refuses to do anything about it and we should see behind the bar and in the Speak Easy”. We grabbed our things and headed out of this dump!
Enjoy your...
