I have visited this restaurant twice and I have been so impressed both times! The food was absolutely the best. The presentation of the food was beautiful. The sushi was definitely more than bite sized, so you really do get your money’s worth at Tokyo Japanese restaurant. The staff was kind and courteous. The setting was very relaxing. On my first visit, I had out of town guests and all they can think of is having dinner at this restaurant when they come back! If I had to come up with something to be improved, I would say taking our plates away after we were done eating would have been nice, as we stayed and visited while we finished our plum wine (amazing). I look forward to our next visit and would seriously go there every day if I could!
Update, I visited again on 8/23/24 and they were very attentive and picked up plates as we were finished with them. So, I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about Tokyo Japanese Cuisine. There were still very polite...
Read moreI have only taken food to go from here so far. Saying that to go sushi still rates a 5 is saying something. I’ve ordered the sushi bento box a couple of times. It comes with seaweed salad and miso soup, plus California rolls, sashimi and sushi. Honestly, it’s two meals for me for less than $20. The staff are so friendly and when you order to go, they call to let you know your order is ready, so you don’t have to wait inside and you know how long your food has been sitting. If you do go inside to order, it’s very clean. A little darker than most restaurants, so it could be very romantic. They also have chicken and beef dishes, noodle soups and Teppanyaki/stir-fry dishes. They are currently in the thick of the road construction, but you can easily get to them by driving the road behind Hy-Vee to the next interesting and they’re on your right. Go...
Read moreThe wife and I dined in for lunch. We are mostly vegetarian (we eat meat we hunt/fish for ourselves). We asked if we could substitute tofu for any dish, but they could not. We shared the miso soup, red bean sesame balls, peanut and avocado rolls, vegetable tempura, and the mixed vegetable udon noodles. The waitress was really nice, but we never got our water glasses refilled. Service was fast. The red bean sesame balls were small, with not much red bean in them, but it was still very good and hot. I'd rather have 4 bigger balls with a bit more red bean in them. The vegetable tempura was really good. All the vegetables and udon noodles were really fresh. The rice wasn't that fresh, and the mixed vegetable udon dish was a little too salty to enjoy. The total cost with the tip was about $60, which is pretty pricey for these parts for lunch...
