Vanilla Cakes & pastries — Restaurant in Columbus

Based on the name of the business I expected that they would have "vanilla cakes" or cupcakes made and available to purchase but they did not. Consequently, I assume that all cakes have to be advanced ordered. They had an extremely wide selection of baklava. In fact, a better name for the place would be "Baklava & More". They had brownies, tiramisu, cheesecake but not a wide selection of these items. I purchased some baklava and a piece of tiramisu. The baklava was good and the tiramisu was delicious! Customer service was okay but someone that is friendlier and more informative about the different kinds of baklava and their other offerings would have been helpful. I needed a last minute cake and wanted to try a local bakery. I asked for a chocolate cake and didn't give any specifics except I needed this in 24 hours. They went above and beyond my expectations. This cake was beautifully decorated with amazing flavors. It's a 3 layers chocolate sponge with chocolate mouse layers, incased in a light whipped cream frosting with chocolate Ganache. I am posting this review because this has happened twice now. We had instances where we were sold stale pastries. I used to love vanilla bakery, especially their chocolate pastries. But not anymore! One time I was served stale pistachio pastry and I let it go as it was the first time. Yesterday, my husband was handed over stale Mille feuille and chocolate pastries again. My request to the owner is that please let the buyers know that they are getting days old pastries, and also sell it for reduced prices so they know what they are getting!
