Sometimes you just have to take the path less traveled. On my way back to Austin, after a weekend in Houston, I decided to take business 71 through Columbus just to see what there was to see. Weather was nice enough so I rolled my windows down after exiting i10. I smelled this place before I saw it. I’ll start this review off by telling you that these are likely the nicest folks you’ll “meat” (yeah I know, but it’s a great pun). They knew and conversed with the locals in the line and welcomed the strangers just as kindly.

I ordered a 1/2 pound of brisket and a link of boudin with a side of smoked cabbage. Like the savage that I am I sliced everything up and prepared to picnic while driving. Boudin was served with saltines which made for a nice transportation vessel. Boudin was spicy and flavorful with a nice snap to the casing. Brisket was smokey with all the right flavors and tenderness. If I had to complain at all I’d wish the bark was more crisp and defined, but it didn’t detract from my experience. The smoked cabbage was a nice curve ball that I didn’t expect; well seasoned with the as advertised smokiness made for seemingly guilt feel treat.

So, take the path less traveled next time and give these folks a try if you’re...

Went to this place a few weeks ago (Feb 3rd, 2025) and totally forgot to write a review until now. My bad! We were staying at a nearby campground and heard great things, so when Saturday rolled around and they were open, I was excited to try it out.

Let me tell you, this was some GOOD barbecue. The guy told me he'd fired up the smoker at 11pm the night before, and it showed in the incredible smoky flavor and tenderness of every meat. I couldn't decide which one was my favorite—the chicken, the sausage, the brisket, or the ribs—but I can say without hesitation that you won't be disappointed with any choice.

The sides were awesome too! Even the mac & cheese had just a touch of smokiness, and the buttered potatoes lived up to their name. Sooo good. Looking forward to the next time I visit this area just so I can eat here again 🤤😆 (I'm gonna try those chili...

Amazing BBQ! Don't miss this place if you're passing through. There's so many lackluster BBQ joints, we were really lucky to find this place. The owner was very kind and friendly as well, and came out to chat with us while we tried to choose from all the delicious options!

I got the brisket which is as good as places with hours long lines, and my bf got the smoked chicken and ribs. He liked the ribs, and the chicken was the best I've ever eaten. Still very moist and tender but a nice smoked flavor too. Get the greens for a side. Skip the average Mac and cheese. Portions are generous, we had a leftover snack later that night.

Only downside to be aware of is it's takeout only, I wish there was at least a picnic table or something behind the building. But it was worth eating in the car! This will be our lunch stop any time we're...

If I'm going to post about Brisket that's not my own, you know it's good! To be honest, I think his Ribs were better! All the sides were so on point! Woods BBQ! When I saw the 5 star reviews, I usually think they're all from family. Nope! This place is the real deal. Hidden in the back of a gas station and only open on weekends. Best Texas BBQ I've ever had! And a really awesome person serving it up. When we come thru next time, he'd better have a smothered baked potato on the menu that he posted about last week.

My buddy and I stopped here on our way back to Austin. We're so glad we did too. The food was delicious and hit the spot! I got two brisket plates and he got a rib plate. The brisket was moist and flavorful! Big fan of the bigger Mac n cheese. The chili beans were delicious as well. I will be stopping here every time I pass by. Very attentive customer service too. They were both very nice. I'm typing this as I'm eating my leftovers... still damn good after reheating. Great job!

This place is a hidden gem. We try to stop here every time we’re passing through. It’s family owned, and the family is so polite, we love supporting small business’. The food is amazing, the brisket is always great lean, or fatty, the smoked cabbage has a fiery kick, and the potatoe salad is so flavorful with crunchy celery. I can’t brag enough about this place. It’s extremely clean as well!!
