(Original 5 star review underneath) EDIT: If not for my previous experiences with this restaurant being so enjoyable I would rate my experience there tonight one star. In the past the staff has almost always been friendly polite and efficient. Food was delicious and priced fairly, and the restaurant itself was cleaned perfectly. That was not the case tonight sadly. I walked into the restaurant at a quarter to 7 and was pleased to be seated quickly in a corner with 6 other members of my party. That is where all sense of the once phenomenal Mexican restaurant ended. We proceeded to wait for a good while before being asked what we wished to drink, waiting even longer we finally received chips and salsa (the chips were cold but honestly I will not held it against them i understand it gets busy and may be difficult to have enough chips) finally receiving our drinks, 3/4 of which were water, we got to wait yet another extended delay before finally asked to make our orders. To clarify, at this point there was basically no one in the restaurant with us as you will see in the pictures provided underneath. Making our orders we then request for our second serving of chips as well as more water, we are a group of 7 mind you, so we had run out in the middle of our previous wait. Finally after a very very extended wait for our food about half of it arrived. We then waited a bit for the rest of our order to come as well as more waters. Finally receiving our food hope was renewed. The food has not changed, I would still say it is phenomenal and that I loved it as always in the past. Waiting for our bill we did receive a while later, we were still completely alone. When we did receive the bill I noticed at a glance that our ever so helpful waitress had charged me 2 extra dollars to "add" bacon to a quote, "guacamole BACON cheeseburger"! Ignoring the small slip up I added a tip and left the restaurant. Now to say that I would not recommend this restaurant is not fair, I still love The food and this is just one bad experience. Though it was disappointing, by no means is this the norm. As you will read in my previous review below I really like this restaurant and have frequented it multiple times. So yes I still recommend the restaurant, hopefully you will receive the normal enjoyable experience I was so looking forward to tonight instead of the poor excuse for a waitress as I experienced.
ORIGINAL REVIEW - The Mexican food in the state I would take this restaurant over nearly every other in the area. Regardless of your group size there is never a wait for a table. The food is delicious to say the least with fair prices for what you get. I have been here a dozen times and never had a single negative experience with any of the staff there, always being friendly and efficient. Great place for any sized group regardless of...
Read moreI'm from Chicago and we have THE BEST Mexican food and I look forward going to Mexico for even better fresh tacos several times a year. I tend to make terrible choices when craving Mexican food in a new town let alone state but making a 16 hour drive from Chicago was well worth it here.
INSTANTLY Love at first salsa dipped chip. The most basic thing is always wrong in most Mexican restaurants but this had the right amount of heat and flavor. This definitely set the bar hight for the rest of my family meal. They had a wide variety of awesome salsa's with different heat to them but you Coloradoians have a different definition of hot, heat, and spice I guess...
The munchies set in from the dispensary cause while I was taken back a little by the price they made up in portions. WOW, there was an abundance after ordering a chicken quesadilla, 2 carnita tacos, 3 steak tacos, rice, beans, 4 margaritas. It was instant food coma and checked off every box in what I look for in a Mexican restaurant.
My bartender and his cute work wife waitress were amazing as well as the rest of the staff. To the 22 year old guy working the bar - Make sure to take that trip to Chicago. This place saved my trip to Colorado. DO NOT GO TO Hot Sulphur Springs Resort & Spa up in the mountains.
If you are COVID conscious or just not a fan of packed places with kids, this place has ample space to give everyone elbow room.
Bonus points for next time that only Mexico taco places get and 1 Chicago restaurant do is they offer FRESH hand made corn tortillas. Game changer and will take you to the next level.
Muchas gracias, muy amables....
Read moreSadly, I'm only giving this review because I will not ever return here. This place has been one that my family has gone to for years and we spend lots of money when we do go. A couple weeks ago, my husband, my boys and myself all walked in and we were greeted very rudely with "I'm sorry we're closed". We were puzzled because there was a restaurant full of people and the woman walked us to the door. As we walked out, the manager said "let them come in and eat, we still have people here." We were seated by the greeter and she was extremely rude placing our menus on the table heavily. As we looked at the menu, there were five staff members standing against the wall glaring at us and talking badly about the manager. Our waitress was very kind and we told her how uncomfortable we felt, she assured us it was fine because there were people still inside. Our food came very fast and the glares continued as we ate and the staff watched their watches carefully. We only ate half of our food, asked for a box, left our waitress a good tip and thanked the manager once again for allowing us to stay even though it was uncomfortable. We have not and will not return because of how rude the remaining staff was to us for staying an extra twenty minutes. Some staff knew us and we always took care of the wait staff. I'm saddened that this happened at a place my family loved so much and has been going...
