Mattie Ruth's Coffee House — Restaurant in Concord

Mattie Ruth’s in Concord, north of Charlotte has the kind of interior that instantly lifts your mood. It feels modern yet cozy, with a touch of whimsy.

The Audrey Hepburn quote on the wall adds charm, and there’s even a stuffed lynx perched on top of a cabinet, gazing into the distance as if guarding the espresso machine. It’s a space that clearly cares about aesthetic details and feels both chic and inviting.

The coffee, however, didn’t quite live up to the promise of the setting. We tried the dirty chai latte and the flat white; both were fine but fairly average, lacking the richness or depth you might expect from a café that looks this refined. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out either.

Still, if you’re in downtown Concord and want a calm, well-designed spot to sit with a book or catch up with a friend, Mattie Ruth’s is worth a visit. Just don’t go in expecting a memorable coffee experience.

I found this place during a Google search, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Anyone who hosts meetings knows the value of a great coffee shop. I stopped by today to explore, and I’m so glad I did.

While I didn’t order food, I did enjoy a refreshing pistachio tea. Even more enjoyable was my conversation with Mattie. She is an entrepreneur with a spirit-filled mission, and her polite and welcoming nature makes this a comfortable space to visit or work within. I love that she truly understands the meaning of service in customer service.
