This is probably get best sushi I've found in CC county thus far. I'm spoiled as I've come from South Bay/Alameda county area has an abundance of Asian population and tend to do Sushi for a fair price but high quality. I've found that when you're in CC, you get good sushi for very expensive, not so great for expensive to moderately priced, or poorly made/caked in mayonnaise and spicy tuna or deep fried for moderately priced. I've experienced so much of that and never found a great place until I ate at Ozora. This is nestled in a strip mall in Pleasant Hill, and open pretty late. They have happy hour from 9 pm to closing, where you can get a ton of food for less than $70... Including excellent sashimi.
Last night they were off with the service. I'm guessing it's because there were two parties and the staff were running all over the place. However, they are usually very attentive and absolutely nice. They are also good with refilling your water and tea, which is great as I don't have to constantly look for someone.
Food gets to the table rather quickly. We usually order sashimi ( huge pieces) and sometimes I order soup, which comes in a huge bowl and very good flavor, and on a occasion, I've ordered the hamachi kama and the chicken and the short ribs. All very good and not greasy. Huge portions!
Price is fair and isn't...
Read moreI’m honestly so disappointed with my recent order here. I had such high hopes after my first visit months ago, but the quality has gone downhill.
I ordered miso soup, avocado mochi, and the Red Head Roll (listed with snow crab). What I received was clearly imitation crab, not snow crab. This is especially concerning because I have a whitefish allergy, and it’s risky for me when ingredients aren’t accurately listed—imitation crab often contains whitefish, while real snow crab doesn’t. That’s not just a quality issue, it’s a health risk.
On top of that, the avocado in the roll was sour, as if it had gone bad. For the price point, I expected fresh ingredients, not something that tasted old.
It’s really upsetting because I thought I had finally found a solid sushi spot after moving here from Hawaii. Being Japanese, sushi is something I take seriously—but I also know I’m not in Hawaii or Japan, so my expectations were realistic. Still, the inconsistency and lack of care here are hard to overlook. Even my friend mentioned they stopped coming because the food just became mediocre.
I truly hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and addresses both the quality and accuracy of what’s...
Read moreOzora Sushi Restaurant is a modern Japanese restaurant located in Walnut Creek, California. It is known for its fresh sushi, creative rolls, and friendly service.
I recently visited Ozora Sushi for dinner with a few friends. We started with the edamame, which were perfectly cooked and seasoned. For our main courses, we ordered the California roll, the spicy tuna roll, and the rainbow roll. All of the rolls were fresh and flavorful, and the rice was cooked perfectly. We also tried the teriyaki chicken, which was juicy and tender.
The service at Ozora Sushi was excellent. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He was also very patient with us as we tried to decide what to order.
The atmosphere at Ozora Sushi is modern and stylish. The restaurant is decorated in a sleek black and white color scheme, and the tables are well-spaced. There is also a bar area where you can sit and watch the sushi chefs at work.
