I have been eating at Margaritas for over 35 years, and this was the worst meal I have ever had. I don't know if they sold the place or what, but it does not have the same feel as the Old Margaritas. My wife and I sat along the mural wall where they have daylight LED bulbs in the fixtures, which makes it feel like a cheap, sterile environment. For a Saturday evening there were not many people there and was not the bustling place we remember. We started with a large queso, which seemed to be what we expected from what we have always had, for the main course, we ordered fajitas for 2, the beef and chicken combo with a side of rice for my wife. For as busy as they were it took a while for the fajitas to come out, the waiter said careful platter is hot, we could not hear any sizzling of the onions or the meat and no steam rising off the platter, so I had to touch the cast iron platter, it was hot, not sizzling though, we were handed 2 small plates the size of a small tortilla to eat off of, 3 tortillas each wrapped in foil, not in the round holder, and cold not even warm. The chicken and the beef were barely warm, the chicken was old and dry, and beef was chewy, onions were the only hot part of the meal, the charro beans I had were more broth and bacon then beans, not many in the bowl, red salsa seemed different also. Seems they have gone down the cheap road, that was probably the last time we will go there sad to say, they have always been a staple place to go eat but after this, sad to...
Read moreI normally would give a better rating in the service. We eat here all the time. Our server was obviously new. No big deal. I have been there. It was quite obvious that he needed more training. I'm not sure how much he got, but he needed more. He messed up my husband's order (actually understandable), and he never refilled our drinks. After we finished our meal, he asks, "So you want your check now?" But the one that really got me was I walked in alone. Was meeting my husband for lunch. He sat me and I ordered our drinks and queso. He asked if he could take my order and I told him I was waiting for my husband. (He knew I had someone coming, I asked for table for 2). My husband gets there and he is sliding into his seat and our waiter is right there asking if we were ready to order. He literally just sat down.
I tend to cut new wait staff a lot of slack. I have been there. It can be a tough job. But this kid needed more training or someone watching him to tell him what to work on. There were 3 people standing up front talking and carrying on. One of them should have been.
Other than that, the food was good as always. Food didn't come out nearly as quickly as it usually does. Not sure if that was the waiter or the kitchen. But it wasn't a ridiculously long time. We just have to watch the clock since my husband only gets 30 minutes.
We will be going back. This is the first time we have had an issue of any kind and it wasn't a huge issue. Food is great and margaritas...
Read moreWow, where do I begin. Overall, not the best dining experience, it was okay, but will not be my first choice again. The salsa, if you can even call it that, was literally closer to Italian marinara sauce or pizza sauce, the green sauce was alright I enjoyed it. The red sauce had oregano in it, it looked like they opened a can of italian seasoned stewed tomatoes and tried to season it to be salsa. I ordered the chicken flautas and they were rather tasty and large, but a bit in the greasy side for my taste, kind of upset my stomach.
Everyone who ordered something that came with a "guacamole salad" was served literally a teaspoon of I kid you not, what was no different than a pre packaged wholly guacamole cup you would find at Walmart. I actually believe that's what it was. I have never seen anything like it, It was a joke.
All of the enchilada plates looked and tasted as if our plates were pre made the night before, frozen, and just baked on the plate, you could tell because of how the beans looked on the plate, curdlle uup around the edges. Whether or not that is true idk but it sure seemed that way.
I don't know how this place is the highest reviewed in the area, do people just not speak up about poor quality? Or do people really like this grocery store quality food idk. But I...
